What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I drive it maybe 8 times a year. I just don't have time. I have it registered historic. Historic insurance is a PITA here in NJ, every agency I contacted wants it garaged or puts too many restrictions on its use. I think at this point, I just would rather buy a new(or used depending on what...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

What have I done to my 5 ton in 2 months? Nothing. It's time to sell it. I had my fun with it, but I just don't use it enough, and insurance costs are way too high here in NJ for a "toy".

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Pulled down some dead trees with her today. The Douglass Fir was a piece of cake. Barely had to tap the throttle to get it to come out. The other one(out in the street) was a Dogwood. Don't know why either of them died. That one was 3/4 throttle until the turbo spooled up, she left a nice...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Filled up the one tire with air that has a very slow leak. One of these days I have to pull it off the truck, split the rim and change the o-ring. It's much easier to just top it off whenever I use it

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Put the truck to (minor) work. Hauled 5040lbs of mulch and lime for the lawn home from Home Depot today. Truck handled it like a champ, rode better with the weight in the bed too. Home Depot employees loved the truck, and even took pictures with it while they were loading it with the fork...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Finished installing a new blower motor and blower motor wheel. I have heat now! Also fixed some incorrect wiring of the parking lights/marker lights. Not sure when it was done, but someone had their hands in the wiring because it was all duct taped together. The wire for the marker lights...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

That explains the marker light on the passenger side for sure, but the corrosion is pretty serious on that one. I cleaned a few up and they work fine now, but this one looks like it was sitting in the ocean for a few years :D But the parking light on the drivers side looks brand new inside...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Tried to figure out why my drivers side parking light works intermittently(ground is definitely good-turn signal and side marker work perfectly), and why the passenger side front marker light doesn't work. I can get the parking light to work...but then I'll put it back together, and it'll stop...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Let us know what you figure out with the horn. I have a horn here that I just finished painting green and was going to mount it up in the truck soon. I know with my shop air it is very very loud.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Hmmm...I'm thinking about finding something like clean dirt to put into the paint, and take it back to Home Depot and have them shake it up real good in their machine. Today after work I ground down around the screw holes for the passenger seat/battery box hinge screws, installed new screws...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Dynaglass'ed the plates I put down on the floor to cover the rusty holes in the floor. Did some preliminary sanding today. Have to finish sanding, and then apply a skim coat of bondo or something that I can get it smoother than the dynaglass. I'm still not sure how I'm going to paint the...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Finished up fabricating the plates to repair the rusty floor in my truck. Had to cut, grind, drill and bend them. Painted the back side with cold galvanizing paint. Going to use seam sealer tomorrow morning to glue them down. Then going to duraglass the floor to smooth things out. Then it'll...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Painted the second coat on the drivers side fender today. Took the truck for a spin after the paint dried, and then got my shirt caught on the door handle when I was jumping out, and tore a hole in my shirt :(

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I drove mine to Home Depot to pick up some mulch that was on sale. Our local MUA sells mulch at the same price, but we have to shovel it out of my dads truck into wheel barrels, it's crappy mulch, and we have to take 4 trips. We got an entire pallet load that is the equivalent of 6 truck loads...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Pulled the drivers side windshield out. Scraped, wire wheeled, sanded and painted(2 coats so far) the area completely around the windshield. I also painted around the windshield frame. Going to reinstall the windshield tomorrow morning. Might do the same process to the passenger side...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Sanded the front bumper down, and painted it. Now if only the rest of the truck looked as good as the bumper. I'm painting the truck piece by piece. I think the hood and front fenders are next. I'm not too sure how to go about painting the grill mesh. I'm not spraying the truck, I'm...
