    On a load that small I could see the military just going straight to the single 12 volt battery.

    Does the M939 have a "Vanner" battery charger built in ? Our busses run four 12 volt batteries. There are taps off two of the batteries for 12 volt systems and then they all are connected (series/parallel) for the 24 volt system. The Vanner is connected to each battery charging them accordingly...

    I should have said "the right way" to pull 12 volts, not the only way. If you would have read all the posts you would have realized this is what I was implying .

    The only way to use just one battery for 12 volts is to use a "Vanner" style battery equalizer. We use this style on our busses since we use both 12 volts and 24 volts. If you do not use a battery equalizer you will destroy your batteries.. The problem is battery equalizers like the Vanner cost...
