1970 International R1856 US Army fire

hopefully OK to include this rig as its currently in the classifieds.. Wanted to include info and pic's in the Mil Fire truck thread.. no connection w/ seller or unit for sale..info only..

This truck spent most of its life at the US Army Rocky Mountain Arsenal outside of Denver. It was then transferred to the Oklahoma Forestry Department.
Engine is the Red Diamond RD-501 six cylinder 501 cubic inch monster engine. 4 barrel Holly 2140G carb.

Recent paint and rubber. 750 Gal 120 GPM 2 pumps all required hoses, fittings, tools, etc. Forest Service/BLM Certified 4 sirens 4 flashers, lightbar,oscilating headlights, 1700 miles Ready for action.

Here is a view of the Rocky Mountain Arsenal, 1969 International-Fire Truck Inc. pumper while in service. Rig was equipped with a 750 gpm pump and carried 300 gals of water.

On a related note...THIS truck was just taken OOS in a tiny town in my fire district, and returned to us (state forestry). It is a ex-army pumper...cool to compare to the other 68 internationals on here! Not sure where this vehicle served in the military.

he wants a m35a2 or an older deuce firetruck. he prefers it to work aswell. hes a firefighter currently and he think it would be sweet

might check the classifieds here, ebay, a general google search, other mil vehicle forums..some of the commercial mil truck dealers convert rigs..find a M35 fuel tanker and do the conversion..check WA states GSA sites, GL, etc..lots of options, check this thread if you have time as it has alot of info and leads..

This 1963 2 1/2 6x6 deuce M44 A1 has a 2000 gallon water tank with working pumps and hose reels. MFR Serial # M-65247. I bought the truck to build it into a hunting buggy and then decided to go a different direction. Truck runs great no leaks and the pumping system does work. Hose reel works and has all necessary hoses to put out a fire. The truck does have two problems. Some kids throw rocks & cracked the passenger side door window and the air brake no longer work from sitting. Other then those two items truck looks and runs great.

It appears the above old girl started life as a Ward LaFrance Class 530B. The pump panel is identical to those mounted on the WdLaFrs from that era.

1971 Military M45A2 Pumper Truck 6x6 2/2

The above, Class 530B manufactured by Defense Products Group of the American Air Filter Co. Many of the pump controls are missing and the water tank has been enlarged to over 800 gallons.

I had the opportunity to work on this 1969 Class 530B by American Air Filter at Dong Ha, Vietnam during 1970. I am currently working on a data base of Class 530Bs used by the Army and would like hear from 530B owners and those with delivery information on these old girls. Especially need hood registration numbers/manufacturer to develope the data base. If you can help on this project contact me by email. milfireguy@comcast.net
