I would rig up a release lever in the cab so I could unhook the trailer once it was on fire and get the hell out of there...

they should already have one. I know a guy that drove something simlar to it. He said he has droped a trialer before, it got shot, caught fire, he droped it and kept going, i dont blame him a bit.

I drove these in Iraq when Kbr first got them. I liked the mercedes actros too but the internationals were alot roomier and easier to live in. they definitely had some bugs that needed working out. and no i wont elaborate.

The few missions we hauled fuel, they gave us FMTV tractors with armor similar to my avatar. For me, even running at night and in an armored cab, I was still puckered from the moment we left the gate until we drove back through it the next day.

out of the 2 million-ish miles that our BDE logged in '05, the LSAC cabbed FMTVs ended up w/ the "safest" record over the HEMMT/PLS and HETs. also, we never had an incident w/ the tankers - that spray-on coating works well.

we used to escort fuelers from taji. uh, i think at the time it was 541 st out of benning or jackson, cant remember. but ya, they are a big slow target. we used to run a lot into baghdad at nights, to muleskinner in east baghdad. had to tow one fmtv uparmored one time. i remember one night, wasnt our platoons night to escort, there was an ambush right outside the gate at taji, and a tank was hit. they managed to drag it back onto base before it caught fire. them it caught fire. we watched it burn to the ground. pretty cool

they dragged it in the south gate before it caught fire. i dunno how it finally lit up, maybe the brakes got too hot and that ignited it. the fire depo did finally come out after it was already ablaze. when were you there?
