You can hit up any CVS. Minute Clinic. Not that it's the right thing since like Wes said, you can get the card if you have a pulse. Mine is every 2 years.
Your states must be the most lax in the US then. In Washington State they take the CDL "very" seriously ! I took my last medical two years ago. Yes I'm retired, but I just wanted to keep my CDL for another seven years. Our state requires the Doctor to be certified not a clinic. I got my medical from a Doctor at a clinic but they still put me through the ringer to get it.
Also what do you mean the test was simple ? Did you guys not go for the class "A" CDL ? That is a big test, and the driving part takes over three hours just by itself. I had to Tow a 60ft bus through downtown Seattle with a forty foot wrecker. Whenever I passed under a overpass I had to tell the State Trooper what the height restrictions where later. If I forgot what it was, that was an immediate fail. I was required to do a "pre" vehicle inspection which by itself took almost an hour itself. All fluids checked, all tires checked, all brakes checked and on and on.
Really, how can you say this test if so "easy peesy" ?
I passed on my first try, but according to the inspector almost 80% fail their first time. That is not an easy test.

So you showed up in the city with a 100’ specialty combo to take the test? That’s saying you have something to prove or doing audits.

Thats like showing up to a CCW course with a 500SW, your going to get a little extra “attention” from the instructor.

With the exception of maybe CSM Davis, you are the only here who drives these trucks for profit. Once I finish my RV build I’ll just change it to a RV plate and be done with it.
He has a food truck. He moves location to location. His means to move it is with the intent to profit. Unless its for like disaster relief to set up a kitchen it falls under profit. They bust taco trucks here whenever they attempt to move them from parking lot to lot.

Few people here drive them for profit. Even some RVs have to have a CDL in some states. It just depends on their laws.

In VA. You don’t even need DOT numbers if your truck stays in the state. We only have them for our work trucks because they travel to PA and back. Otherwise we would save the hassle and not have them because one or two big trucks links your entire fleet together. Even if two are pick ups.

The transit department made me do it. Not trying to prove anything. Really, who in his right mind would want to do that if they didn't have to ?
If you where a semi-truck operater you are required to bring in your truck and take the inspector for the test.
Your basically taking the test with what ever your going to be driving with the CDL.
Since the job I had required the mechanics to be able to tow a 60ft bus back to the bus barn from downtown Seattle that is what I had to do for the test.
Simple. Not trying to show off, though funny that is what you first thought.
