So was that originally an air force jeep? Can you tell where the markings are really supposed to be? I might have a 38 soon and am curious...

Fantastic project well completed. Great pictures of progress too. There were about 20 of those Air force Jeeps in an American car parts yard over here many years ago. They were all actually near perfect but overly expensive. The owner of the yard used to state "no matter, they can just stand there". They did and rotted clear down to and into the ground!. Sad.
