the 6.2 will notget 55mph I have the pedal3/4 to the floor. to get that. to be legal interstate mph. I never pull any trailer to grandisle from BatonRouge 125miles. 60 miles on the interstate. 35inch tires. I have no load in the bed only my spare tire.
If you've installed larger tires, then your speedometer is incorrect. The truck originally had 32" tires, so the 35" tires are actually allowing you to go faster than what you are seeing on the speedometer. If the speedometer is showing you 55mph, you're actually going about 62mph.

It might sound like the crank is going to let go, but you should be able to safely run the engine as fast as 3600rpm. With your 35" tires, you should be able to go 75mph, but your speedometer will only show 68mph.

can I please get some advise. on installing a larger diesel motor in mu cucv m1oo9.
The 6.2L engine has enough power to get the truck up to highway speeds, but the transmission is the problem. You want to install a transmission with overdrive, like a 700R4 or 4L80E, or a manual transmission such as the NV4500.

These transmissions will allow you to go 70mph or 75mph, and will keep the engine RPM's a lot lower.

If your running the stock tire size of 235 - 85 - 16 with 4.56's gears and the turbo 400 transmission, your rpm's should be at 2650 at 55mph. The governor is set to 3600 rpm. You will not blow up the motor at 55 mph. If you constantly run at the governor then you may risk braking the crank. At 3600 rpm the truck will be traveling at 75 mph.

Adding an overdrive transmission will put rpm's at 1850 at 55mph, and 2350 at 70 mph.

If you can't even hit 55 mph then you are most likely having a fuel issue. Clogged air filter, clogged fuel filter, worn out lift pump. If that doesn't fix the issue then its either the injection pump or worn out nozzles (injectors)

Other possible issue is a slipping or failed transmission.

getting to 75mph is not the problem. keeping it@ that speed. I donot want to blow up my 6.2. I do not need hearing aids to hear, my engine rpms very high.

There really isn't much more I can say that hasn't been said already. My 1009 has 4.56 gears and 33s, I drive it at 65mph all the time, at 3000 rpms for hours. It likes it and normally runs at 170-180 coolant temperature. And I average 16 mpg.

Will the police really ticket you for driving what you think is 55mph? I run 55-60 in my M1008, stock tires and tranny, on Interstate 81 frequently up here and the State Police don't even care.
Download a GPS app for your phone to see how fast you are really driving.

I have 35's on my M1008 and I cruise down the interstate at 60mph... and that's so I won't get ran over in traffic. Lol

Here in Michigan they will ticket you for "impeding traffic" for going slower than the posted minimum speeds on interstate highways.

In NY no minimum limit posted, many time I wish there was as I'll be cruising at 65mph and all of a sudden come across some old blue hair roaring down the road at the break neck speed of 40-45!

I'm actually a bit surprised, mostly because the Socialist Republic of New York doesn't. Our State Police are a huge factor in the State's income. You may get a cheap $15 fine for something, but the state minimum court surcharge is like $85 on top of that.

As long as they don't force it above 55mph I wouldn't care. I have no plans on changing my '08 to make it run faster down the road. I do agree with the blue haired racers though, **** near got hit by one last week. I don't know what she was watching but it sure wasn't the road or the big green truck next to her.
