izzug,
This was your truck at the 2016 Leesburg Christmas Parade, I even sent you a T-Shirt afterwards! Just being silly, I couldn't make last years Christmas Parade but my better half told me you drove the MTV all the way down, participated in the Parade and rolled hours back north to attend another Parade. I'll see you at the Rally Sir and I'll cast my vote for Ken as well.

Well, as the 21st of the month slips away, I see our 220KAK has managed TWO votes! I am appreciative yet surprised. Others are more "beautiful", better restored, more "desirable" in the typical motor pool, and even currently operational. Yet we still have several weeks to see this poll to it's final tallies.

Just an update on the 220KAK's background investigation.....

Over the past couple of days, I have been in touch with the GREATER LOUISVILLE INC. folks - their regional Chamber of Commerce - in search of additional history or even successors to the KINGHAM TRAILER COMPANY. A very helpful young lady there by the name Melissa tackled my request for information like a trooper. Unfortunately, the list of links and contacts she's provided me almost perfectly mirror the research I have already done... except for ONE NEW CONTACT. There is currently a company in their area - KENTUCKY TRAILERS - whose website holds a wealth of historical information on their own company all the way back to the 1800's when they were a Wagon Works. I'll be calling them tomorrow in the hopes of talking to their "historian". If he/she knows that much of their business' history, there might just be some unpublished knowledge of one of their former competitors.... who knows, they may have even absorbed Kingham Trailers into their own enterprise.

Some additional photo album memories of readying the 220KAK for her recovery trip....

I had located some "new" wheels and tires. They had come of an M818 that had gotten larger "shoes" for playing in the mud. These tires still had (and still have) the mold nubs on them. Got the full set of TEN from the M818, which put 8 on the ground under the 220KAK AND a spare in each of the two spare tire racks under her box.

It was a quick PIT STOP on a day I was busy at the funeral home. So I had a local Tire Guy change out the wheels....

Now ready for the recovery trip (about 4 miles to our backyard) we still didn't have a tow vehicle of our own.....

SO.... Thanks to a local company that specializes in road and highway construction, bridges and parking lots, etc, they literally LOANED us a driver and short tractor, a supervisor for escort, and their lead contract bidder (a personal friend of ours).....

2011-12-16 The FOLLOWER Comes Home 003.jpg <--- OK! Who else among us has recovered an MV while wearing a SUIT and dressed for a funeral ?!?!?!?

2011-12-16 The FOLLOWER Comes Home 005.jpg This is why a short tractor was needed on this first arrival to our LZ... She had to be jackknifed through a 21' wide gate off of a 25' wide alley. That's a pretty good trick for a 26' trailer! Our borrowed driver did it in just ONE SHOT!!!
NOTE: This trip was LEGAL - You can see the white ONE WAY TRIP PERMIT taped to the back bumper bar.

2011-12-16 The FOLLOWER Comes Home 007.jpg A good shot of how tightly our motor pool fits into our backyard. And our canine corps inspecting the new arrival.
While the movement was technically "LEGAL" the trip, which was done mostly on neighborhood streets, did not include any trailer lights (the 12V connections FUBAR) and the Glad Hands had been sheared from the forward bulkhead, so NO BRAKES!
NOTE: The brakes DID NOT need to be caged for this trip. Being a 1960's vintage trailer, the brakes are DISENGAGED when "relaxed" and require air pressure to apply the friction between the pads and drums. This is OPPOSITE to more modern and SAFER brake design standards.

2011-12-16 The FOLLOWER Comes Home 009.jpg Note the faded "662" on the right rear door. And the rear lighting is noteworthy as well: both military lighting and commercial lighting can be seen here; along with the upper marker lights and the center 3 being skewed to allow for the upper door latch anchorage.

BONUS PIC:

Here's the KINGHAM TRAILER COMPANY's "CROWN LOGO" cast into the rear door sill:

Hope that helps to sway some voters!

If we have to go for longer distance we piggiback the SEE. Easily he climb on and of the truck.

About 2086 units of the SEE were build. Most of them surely remained in the USA but you will find them scattered all over the world.
But we were amazed to meet a second SEE in Bavaria. And yes,..... there is a highway exit named Lederhose (Leather pants)

View attachment 739667View attachment 739668 Chaplain, this M275A2 would look good pulling your 220 KAK, and it's for sale in Texas.
Indeed it would! And I favor the M275's for their multi-fuel power plants... But that's because we already have a spare Multi-Fuel still in the crate from a 1990's rebuild that came with our Deuce.
Although this tractor IS interesting, we have already acquired a 1969 vintage XM818 out of the Midland (Texas) County Sheriff's Department.

Thanks for mentioning it.

Rubber Side Down.:driver::driver:

Not long ago we replaced the tires.

We replaced the original Michelins to Pirelli Pista. We purchase these tires as 5 Years old (not used) spares from the forces.

and fasten with the right torque.

Have fun with the presentation of this extraordinary vehicle.

For maintenance or/and for tilting the cab you can get the frontloader and the backhoe off.

SEE Front Loader.jpg See Geräte anAb 012.jpg

For tilting the cap you must also take off the FOP and the spare tire.

Seems we're getting down to the wire....

I can hear the new commentators making their election night predictions now.

And we with horses in this race are fidgeting. All but one hoping for a last minute miracle.
