Registration Issues

So i bought my deuce with no title. No big deal, i've done this before, but not with something this big. Regardless, my plan is to go through Vermont DMV and get tags and registration through them...however, my question is: Do i need to have the VIN verified? Also, what weight class did you use for the tax purposes? I've searched through the site and havent found anything that can answer my question, so if someone thats done this or have experience with it and could give me some advice, i'd greatly appreciate it. thanks!
