Good day all your MV enthusiasts. This is our 5t truck. It´s a 1977 MAN Kat1 5t mil glw . This truck is powert by a V8 aircooled Deutz engine. The engine is placed behind the front axel in the back of the driver/passengers compartment.

IMG_7661.jpg IMG_7664.jpgIMG_7665.jpgIMG_7666.jpgIMG_7667.jpg

We purchased this truck as late as 3 weeks ago from the island Fehmarn. This truck was used for civil protection after retired from the army in 2013.
On our way home from Fehmarn we stop for a canopy.

Yesterday we meet with friends for a ride out of town to cut some christmas trees.

IMG_7690.jpg IMG_7693.jpg IMG_7699.jpg IMG_7712.jpgIMG_7711.jpg

Back home we take the chance to change engine oil and filters.

That KAT 1 is a work of art guys, it seriously looks perfect! I love the Unimogs also the light green one is a really early one, that was kind of the THIS starts it all vehicle. Have you found any problems with the MAN yet? How many gallons of oil does that air cooled engine hold? out on the highway what would you say your cruising speed was? The KAT 1 is considered a 5 ton class truck isnt it?
Thanks a ton for the pics guys you did a fantastic job getting the truck and it sure looks like it was worth it!!!

Beautiful trucks this month, I'd love to know more before voting! That air cooled trucks are fascinating I must say, never knew about them until I read about a tatra.

The air duct for cooling is the grille in the Engine compartment upper hood.

We want to get rid of the convoy lights and the siren. They interfere with the gunners place and the rear once are installed at the top engine hood.
Perhaps we will find another place for a convoy light.
Ordered a gun ring today.;)

Our 1977 MAN 5ton glw is equipped with a 6 ton hydraulik winch. The winch is driven by PTO and is frame mounted in front of the rear axel.
You can work with front cable outlet or you go out at the rear roller frame.

It's been a busy year for this old 5 ton. From recent to last year, Member Welder1 made a flag mount for Parades so that I can match his Deuce. He participated in the 1st Annual Leesburg Veterans Day Parade hosted by the American Legion. Made it to the Annual Company Picnic at Durhamtown Off Road Park, developed an oil leak from the accessory drive that allowed me to know how the front of an NHC-250 together. He hauled all of the presents at my Son's Birthday Party and got a new cargo cover. Lastly he even braved the snow this year which is very rare for Leesburg, Ga. As you can imagine they cancelled school over the 1/16" of snow we got so a drive through the countryside was in order. Like most of you know, owning one of these trucks can be quite an adventure. I'm fortunate to have a family that participates in my hobby and I've met a ton of good folks along the way. I thank you kindly in advance if you vote for General Non-Sense. I think a truck hauling a Christmas Tree would be perfect for December's MV of the Month.

If you have a break, you can fold and hang a good place for two off the crew. Think the 3rd cast an eye at the enemy.:goodjob:

Santa mean well with us this year. Every day some packages arrived.:jumpin::jumpin:

Today: an old school work lamp (part of the on bord equipment) and a gun ring.
We don´t want to drive with a mashine gun, but the ring is part of this MV and perhaps it will be a place for a convoy light.

IMG_7749.jpg IMG_7748.jpg IMG_7751.jpg

O.K ....we have to order two off, but another MV enthusiast is willing to take one.

IMG_7753.jpg

Thank you for voting our 1977 5ton this month. We hope to bring you this fine MV a bit closer these day´s, have fun.

MigginsBros has a good campaign going. Here are some pictures of my truck evolving from a M923A0 to an A1. He's always been a Parade and Rally goer. The first few pictures are him hanging out with a Legend, Proud American in the local Leesburg, Ga Parade. Pictures 3 and 4 show conversion to singles. A member in North Carolina traded me tires but I had to make the drive. The rest of the pictures show what we all know. These trucks are herd creatures, they seek out each other just as we do as owners. Some of the best friends I've made in the past 9 years have come from this board. The trucks break, we get together and fix them. None of us know everything but through the knowledge of all the members we keep them alive!

Done some exercises and maintenance today. Check oil level and tire pressures. Use the diesel heaters, check out the on board 35t tow bar, fill with diesel to the neck and fill the alcohol reservoir on the SEE to save the airlines, the Kat1 has air dryers upgraded.
