Broken screws and Leaks

The screws that hold the soft door latches to the body are stripped. One is actually broken. I'll probably use a chisel or similar to remove the head and then ez out the screws that remain in the latch plate. Any other ideas to make this easier?

Also, I replaced the outer seal on my front rt wheel because I damaged it while working on the spindle. I didn't have any leaks prior. I reassembled the front end and the gear oil is leaking from the plate, it appears. Question is, how do you tell if its the inner seal or if I just did a bad job of putting the gasket seal on the plate? I'm leaning/hoping the seal on the plate but wanna make sure if I have to tear it down again.

I had that happen on my back door. After I got the backing plate off I just heated it till it was red hot for a few min then clamped vice grips on the remainder of the screw and it came right out.
