Just watched the news, it's a cat 2 right now, but expected to hit cat 4 before landfall. Entire state of Florida is already declared in the state of emergency, mostly seems to be because nobody bothers to prepare for one of these until the day before it's expected to hit.

States declare a state of emergency so the money they spend can come out of another pocket. Not so people pay attention to things. This day in age we are bombarded with info..some times its just to much.

Well, either way, I ran my 803 for about 30 minutes yesterday on the house going from near zero load to 100% when all the things kicked in(dryer, AC, pool pump, well, shop compressor). I'm good to go.

The further East it goes, the better off we Floridians are, this change in track is a blessing. The place I work shut down till Thursday in anticipation of the storm.

They did a good job getting gas to the stations, waved weight limits and got a trooper escort. I still haven't filled my 55 gal drum, all night truck stop about 12 miles away.

The annual Fla hurricane season brings back memories as a kid growing up in Fla. long ago. As a young teenager I experienced a certain adrenaline excitement when there was a hurricane bearing down and headed our way...kind of like the running of the bulls in Spain! Was one going to hit us directly or not? Of course being of school age would mean school was going to be closed :-D if it was a direct hit...but the downside meant we would be without services for who knows how long and I would have to help my dad clean up all the yard mess blown down.

Anyway, I hope Dorian is a miss for Fla as well as the East Coast and it stays offshore!

Got my civilian CAT generator out and ran it for a bit yesterday. Especially keen since it's gas and I haven't run it since last year. I probably need to dump the fuel and refill it. I'm anticipating this week is going to go FUBAR at work. Especially depending on what happens with the tracks.

NOTE, as of this morning, Dorian is a CAT 5.

My 004 was all prepped and ready to fly. Power in my neighborhood gets wonky at the first sigh of a squirrel fart. Didn't even have to start her up. My family refers to it as my personal form of hurricane repellant.

Here we go again. Cranked it up and ran it for 30 minutes yesterday. Also spent last week, about two hours over a couple days, rebuilding a free MS290 chainsaw into a MS390 with a 25" bar/chain. Should be ready.

My monthly run was last Sunday. Everything seems fine but I had to top up the batteries a little.

I have had a heck of a time keeping a solar charge controller working so I decided not to replace them as they failed. I ruined the deep cycle battery on one of my field cameras but I have a 100W panel on that. The generator just has a 20W panel so it should be okay unregulated but I may be wrong. My backhoe has a 10W panel glued to the hood and I never had a regulator on it.

On my second drum of fuel so I may not have much over 50 gallons between the drum and my tractors so hopefully we won't have a long term outage. Always depends on exactly where it hits and how many twisters get spun off in the storm.

They say it's not going to exceed a tropical storm but they also predicted Hurricane Michael was going to hit as a category 2. It came in as a 5.
