Hello Everyone- New to the Family- Just picked up a 1991 M998- If you can share any info it will be much appreciated.

I am not mechanically inclined- was wondering if there is a place out in Northern Va- where I could possibly have some upgrades/repairs
I.E. AC, 24 bolt tires, tach etc. done.

Welcome! Best to start with the Technical Manuals, there is a wealth of information therein. They are dry, and at times hard to understand, based on the way they are written, but eventually with enough staring they make sense. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?78861-TMs-for-the-M998-Series-HMMWV

The search function, again once you get to know it, can be very useful too: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/search.php?search_type=1

As far as places to get work done. Alban Tire on Backlick Road in Springfield VA does well with suspension, tires and steering. They might also do engine work, but I've never used them. Protip: they do NOT respond to website inquiries/estimates, despite what the site says. Call them.

There is a fellow in Richmond who does simple work like brakes, oil, and so forth. Seems like a good guy, but I haven't met him because driving 2.5 hours for maintenance is a stretch. He advertises on Craigslist.

There are a few owners in NOVA too, we're always available for advice and sometimes swap maintenance.

You should come to the Graves Mountain Rally this weekend, a slew of us will be there. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?188562-Graves-Mountain-Rally-August-29-September-2-2019

Again, welcome!

Thank you Bulldogger! I am waiting for the unit to arrive so I may miss the rally - but will definitely link up!
I will be on the new military surplus plates - so will be limited to how far I go as of Jan 2019.
Looking forward to catching up with you guys.

Welcome to the club. What type of repairs are needed? I have a small shop in Lovettsville about 25 miles from Ashburn!

Nice rig! Looks great. Welcome.
My first suggestion, Learn how to pull wrenches! That way you will understand issues even when they are too big to fix yourself.
Red Dot is a big job. Why not go aftermarket totally customizable? You can use brands that aftermarket car restoration guys use also, so don't limit your choices. Your vehicle is already not "stock".
She seems to have been tweeked with paint, aftermarket doors, and aftermarket rear slantback type rear hatch and sponsons. This begs the question, where did you buy your rig?

Ultimately, NICE RIG! and Welcome!

Enjoy her.

T

P.S. - These are GM vehicles, so for some issues and in a pinch you can get service at a GM dealer.
