Anyone heard of the gov taking M809 series trucks and over hauling them and replacing the engines with a 283 cummins?

I just can't find anything out there about that.

Okay... friend of mine informed me that it's a ISL9 380 (283) Cummins motor.

But, anyone heard of them being fitted into M809's?

Like what was done to make M35A3's but, this motor and still 5 speeds?

Not by the military , they were being surplused off when that motor came out .

That never happened. The X designation of an XM809 is acceptance of the contract meaning all those trucks are generally older than other M809 series truck.

There may be a 939 series truck with an ISL if your other fellow michigander can get to work

Can confirm there were prototypes of the ISL/ISX in an M939 series truck and they shared the suspension of the MTVR. I'm sure they were test trucks for the MTVR program. Past that no, the M809 series would be too old for that type of upgrade.

9L ISL is around 550 CID. HP varies, as stated, L9 380 would be 9L,(549 inches), 380 HP. The C series, weather mechanical or electronic, is 505 CID or 8L.

:???: Don't we all know SOMEONE here that is putting one in their 5T? Clint......:burn:
