Mile Marker winch rotation

I have read somewhere in these threads that when using a rear Mile Marker winch on the front that the cable must be spooled on in the opposite direction.
Reading on hydraulic planetary winches in general many times the valving is different from "in" to "out", that there is a "balance" valve to help with dynamic braking.
So the question is has anyone had any issues changing the Mile Marker winch spooling direction?

The cable just needs to respooled to feed off the bottom when the rear is installed on the front of the truck...I’ve installed them
before.

I did find a manual that explained this, Mile Marker calls this a "flow disk" (located between the valve body and motor) I am not even sure they use it on the military version, on the lighter winches (9-10.5K) it looks like the flow disk can be moved from one motor port to the other depending on rotation direction, unfortunately my winch is a 12K and the valve body is only machined for the flow disk on one port.

It may also be that when using the rear winch the flow disk is in the remote valve and just reversing the hoses at the motor makes it correct.

The disk reduces flow in the reverse direction to give more control when "dumping the load" and many winches may be out there with the disk in the wrong port but the operator does not recognize the operational effects, which would be very fast reverse with a load and reduced speed and power when winching "IN"

EDIT, actually looking at the disk I don't see why just turning it over would not work....
