2009 vin info thread

I have an 818wo/w that has a hand etched data plate. the serial number on the Data Plate is slightly different than the serial number on the frame.

Frame serial number is C12610037

Data Plate serial number is C12410037
Data Plate say the truck is an AM General 05666970
Purchased in Missouri
MONG 1138 MYC

There is a small 54 stamped verticaly on the frame after the serial number.

Any info you can find on this truck would be appreciated. Is it an AM General? What year is it?

For legal purposes, you have to go with the number on the frame. I would double then triple check and verify it and then work on getting the sf97 with the correct info. Keep in mind the govt doesn't have the issues with correcting info that you will have nor will they have to pay like you will. All it took was for some pvt to type it in wrong and then instead of correcting it the way they should have, they have a different dataplate made. Not a common thing but can see it happening.

This one appears to have some issues. Will need to verify it is an M45A2.

First separating the reg# from the serial (VIN) number I have a reg# of 04050970. A search on this is a blank however there is a 04H59#70 series from 0 to 9 where the # sign is.

Looking at the SN 05341005# is the start of a series for a set of M109A3 shop vans. The # ranges from 0 to 9 but you specific number '2' is missing from the series.

It leads me to wonder if your truck may have started life as a 109 shop van and got bastardized before or after leaving service.

Verifying the frame number would be a start.

Unit Markings 1 145th on Passenger Bumper, D22 on Drivers side of bumper.

When you get a chance, please run the numbers so that perhaps I can learn the history of my truck. It was represented as an AM General on GL, it is stenciled CARC 08/96 and the motor tag has a build date of 02/90. Can you see if this was a rebuild during the 90's as well? It's in great shape and I'm very proud to have it.
