All,

I am going to try to compile a list of serial #'s to assist helping owners who dont have their dataplates. The only info I am looking for is the 87/88/89 "K" number, and the 9 digit serial # starting with 104#-#####, and the date that is listed on the blue warrantee data plate and/or the rustproofing sticker on the inside of the glovebox door, and if your truck has a winch or not. I dont need your name, location or anything else. If you would like to PM me the info, that would be great. The more people that help, the more accurate the info can be. If you are missing some info, thats fine, any bit helps.

Something like the following:

Unit #: 88K123
VIN: 1040-12345
Warranty Date: 1/88
Winch/No winch

Also check out this Spotter Guide

Thanks!

my information does appear that way. 1041 = With winch.

Does all that info come off your dataplate?

Great info, keep it coming when you see it. I might try and call AMG this week, see what I can shake loose.. Probably nothing, but ya never know.

89K380 1040-11471; Rust Proofing Sticker date - 5/89 (blue warranty plate missing)

88K648 1040-11350 (blue warranty plate and rust proofing sticker both missing)

Data plates and Maintenance Plates were also missing from both trucks when I picked them up from GL

both W/OW (but in the process of adding a winch to the '89)

'88 now owned by a friend who is a Korean War vet

Let me know if you can find out anything from AMG or need any other info from me.

Good thread. At least with AF trucks there is some correlation between registration numbers and vin/serial numbers.

There is another Member in the Club that has an AF Deuce. IIRC, the last number in his S/N is only one digit +/- different than mine. We both purchased our Deuces at Ft Carson, just a few weeks apart. I'll send him an email and see if he'll provde his information.

Don't know that I’d call it a "pattern" but we all know, or should, that on the AF registration number, the first two digits are the model year or year acquired by the AF, “K” indicates "tactical vehicle" and the following digits indicate the sequence the vehicle entered the AF inventory. Unlike the Army registration which doesn't appear to have any rhyme or reason.
So with emmado22’s database one could be reasonably close (NOT TO BE USED FOR LEGAL PURPOSES) to determining a registration number using a vin/serial number or vice-versa determining a vin/serial number using the registration number.
