Listen to what everybody is saying on this site . A form SF 97 is not a title to you if it is not in your name . I just helped someone reg and title their MV with a improper SF 97 , what a hassel that was . As they say it's easier to stay out of troulbe then it is to get out of trouble when you are in it . Their are LOTS of MV's out there with titles , keep looking .

Exactly what the past 9 or 10 posts said. The seller needs to take the SF-97 to DMV, get a title in HIS name, THEN AND ONLY THEN, you can buy it with a state issued title (NOT SF-97) with his name and get a title in yours. If he is not willing to do that, find another truck. It's not worth the PITA.

There is most likely a reason he dosen't have a title and he is trying to cut his losses by dumping it on you . If he can't get a title why do you think you can? NO TITLE = NO MONEY
