What's missing in pic, plug? no plug?

ok heres a puzzling question. logic stands to reason that if theres a threaded hole somewhere, theres supposed to be a plug in it. On the engine ive seen many of these plugs threaded into misc areas of the manifold, block etc. I crawled up under the m35a2 to trace leaks. I then noticed that at the bottom of the bell housing (where the flywheel is located) there are 2 plugs. Im not certain there are 2 but i thought i remembered seeing 2 of them. Then there is a large threaded hole that is quite large approximately the size of a silver dollar in between the two plugs. The other two are about the size of a quarter and these holes have square drive plugs. The largest hole that is missing the plug is directly in the bottom center of the housing that holds the flywheel. This particular hole is threaded and it appears as if theres supposed to be a plug there. I checked the tm's and cant find this detailed sufficiently (for me anyway) enough to give me any direction. Does anyone know if this area holds fluid, and if theres supposed to be a plug in it? Second question- can someone explain how i go about checking fluids in the transmission? What weight to use and how much? I havent downloaded this part of the tm yet and im on a computer at work. I wont be able to get it before my days off. I would like to figure this all out so i can do the work. Thanks

I see that you have not read the operators manual yet. I would suggest that you do as your truck has many other surprises. What you observed is correct as it is. Don't plug that hole. The TM explains it much better than I and you will be smarter for checking it out.

Like Kenny said, read the TM's. If I would have spent 2 minutes removing the plug on the bobber I got, I wouldn't have had to spend a half a day cleaning up the oil soaked clutch.

I wonder if he's talking about the emergency brake fluid drain plug?

From the location description, I would say not this time.

Where'd you think I found all those links? I certainly didn't search for them, I am trying to fit in more around here.

Regardless of the 20 links, the TM is the first line of defense.

its definitely the fording plug on the bottom of the flywheel housing. I found it on a link after searching the forum. Come on guys! im still learning. Not trying to ruffle feathers.

Instead of a smilly shooting self in head, how about one that shoots it self in the foot.

I was under the impression it was the fording plug. Right next to it is a plug that goes no where but is threaded in. I learned before you go swimming you swap the plug into the open hole.

Well to prove my devotion i comped out an hour from working the mean streets to read tm's. I SHALL NEVER ASK ANOTHER IGNORENT QUESTION!! I grovel at the foots of all here who are mighty and knowledgeable. I hereby designate myself ss latrine officer for 14 days. On a side note does anyone know how much coolant one of these things hold or how to check it? (insert future suicidal emoticon here)

My personal favorite is, "Hey, I just recovered my truck and drove it 30,000 miles home. How do I check the brake fluid?" but that one has been beaten to death

You might want to spend a few more minutes reading the Lube Order. It will have all the fluid types and quantities.

OR this one "HELP, started the deuce, how do I shut it off", or this one "HELP, how do I start my deuce", could have been a lot worse like "WHAT IS THE RED BUTTON FOR"
