LDT-465-1C vs. LDT-465-1D. What's the difference?

So I have been searching to no avail about the differences between the 1c and 1d blocks. I am interested in the changes made to engine that makes the 1d a 1d. So if you guys have any idea feel free to deposit that information into this thread.

PS: it has nothing to do with the turbos.

From what I read on Google the difference is the 1-D has a slightly different piston top design , slightly modified head gasket and a quieter turbo is the major differences between the LDT 465 1C versus 1D other then it being the lasest version of the engine

There are lots of differences which mysterys are you wanting to unfold?
Besides what M813 has already stated I have also heard the 1d has oil cooled pistons where the 1c does not and that the injector pump is different as well along with timing and so forth. My 1d engine has a nasty loud whistler on it. I mean this thing drowned out another whistler sitting beside it and that was at idle.
I just want to weed through the "I thinks" and actually turn them into facts.
I intend on calling White-Hercules today since they still retain all the documentation for these engines along with the CAD drawings and request a revision information sheet which lists the differences in these motors. I will post my findings in this thread.

Both C and D versions have the TD cast on the block, designating "Thick Deck"

For all practical purposes, C or D, makes no difference to us.

Thanks doghead, that's what it was I read about. The TD designation, couldn,t remember...........in fact if memory serves I believe it was a post of yours that I am reffering where I read it lol. You told me I had a Continental motor 'cause I have an LDS 465 whistler in my '71 AM general. I just went and checked and it actually says it is a LDS 465 1A. Any one know what the 1A is? Not trying to steal the thread but figured it relates. Thanks

I have seen this list many times with no mention of the later version 1d engine.

That list was published June 1974.

I would summarize, the 1D came after that.
