Was browsing GL and found an interesting set of bumper markings on a USMC M813A1.

Left side of the bumper has two small lines that read:
PRES.
LCN 0000

Center has a set of numbers, looks like an NSN
2320-00-058-0913

Right side has
C/C F
PRES
RECEIPT 08/03

I'm guessing this has something to do with a pre-positioned stock?

PRES equals Preservation, Being a Condition Code F, it should have had Level A1 Next to the PRES marking. LCN equals Location, 00000 means it was obsolete at time of receipt (It was) and would not be actively tracked as far as which storage lot it was on. Center of bumper number is the NSN. Right side means it was classified as Condition Code "F" meaning unservicable and Receipt 08/03 means it came to the base August of 2003. Don't read too much into the condition code, it was obsolete when it was receipted for, it was coded "F" so that it wouldn't appear in the system as an issueable item.

Pre-positioned equipment

I believe a lot of Pre-Positioned equipment from Norway has been liquidated by the DOD recently. Something tells me only a fraction of it is making it's way back to our shores.....aua
