Utility box looks original. is there any value in the box? The other 715 is 1968 with standard pickup box with some junk yard carnage on one side. There is a large electrical unit mounted in front of the radiator that I would guess was a rectifier with cable going to the alternator. The control box or regulator is missing. I would guess it looked like a 100 amp control box would fit in the missing space. Been awhile since I worked on any of the old charging systems, maybe a radio charging set up??

Great to hear from you Hardmission. Your "utility box" truck could be a M724 Contact Maintenance or a M726 Telephone Maintenance. The contact truck has a taller enclosed body and a Hobart welder. Both of these are desireable to the right person. The contact truck is a bit heavy for daily driving. Your 100 amp system in the 715 tells me it was a shelter carrier at one time. The voltage regulator can be found, and it makes an interesting upgrade to the truck. Makes a neat sound too.

Thanks NDT, Will take a better look at the utility box today. I think it is the lower one.
I was stationed at Ft. Wainwright near Fairbanks when our motor pool received the first shipment of M715. I was section chief of the fuel and electrical shop and the 5/4 ton were not breaking down yet, but the heaters had to work if nothing else.

Hello from a Grangeville High graduate! Love to see some pics of the new trucks. I'll be up in your neck of the woods in August in case you need anything from TX.

Thanks Mkcoen, You would be familiar with the origin of these trucks. My son has one of them also. All three were BIA Nez Perce. one has 7400 miles on it indicated so they didn't see much use.
