Does anyone happen to know when the packard connectors were introduced?

My 1954 M37 has 99% Douglas but the ignition switch is packard. They seem to be factory, and doubtful the military did it, as the history I have is it was transferred to civil defense in 1961. But for other reasons I am also curious to know when they started to be used.
