Easy stock fuel filter change

I have read many threads on the site about problems changing the filters.All the problems had to due with air in the system.I did warm mine up before changing the filter,but I then did something I have not seen mentioned here.

I put the new filter in a two gallon bucket and added enough diesel to cover it.I just used a large wrench to hold it down(it will float).A minute later I took off the old filter and swapped it with the new one.

Hopped in and the truck fired up perfectly.No need to even bleed the filter.

Hope that helps someone having an issue changing the fuel filter.

Good idea!

I poured fresh diesel in mine (like doing an oil filter), installed it, truck started, died, started, died, started, stayed running - did not have to bleed anything...

thanks that sounds good a little messy but as long as it works. I usually change my filters in my shop and run 5psi through the return line to the fuel tank to back feed and push fuel to the filter.
Thats a good idea if you dont want to kill your starter are Batt. and dont have other means of doing the job
