If when trying to look up manual there, the URL that appears at the bottom of your browswer as you place the pointer over the link has an "A" in it, you should be able to get it. If it has B, C, or D, then it is restricted.

the url look slike this:
logsa.army.mil/blahblah/foo/A/bar/yadayada/1234567.pdf
Notice the "A" there by itself. That's the key.

In case it's b, c, or d, you can't get it (you might get lucky and find a hard copy somewhere that sliped through).
If it is restricted, then no one who has lawful access will get it for you either because that would violate the laws. Silly as it may seem.

I'm not even sure it is lawful to casually access logsa, concerning their warning that the lowest level of person it is authorized for is a contractor. Is there an official/documented ruling on this?

When I tried to access it I didn't get the login page. I got a fault in the system notice. It may be my machine or the file is bad on their system.

How long does it usually take for manuals of obsolete equip. to move to the A status???? I am pretty sure these gen sets are out of the system by now.

Haha! now that is a good question.. I had a long heart to heart talk with one of the document security folks at LOGSA 3 years ago and was told that while there are many manuals that should be / should have been moved to "A", it is a question of manpower and funding all up and down the chain of command to do it. He suggested I try the freedom of information act for the PRC-77 TM and other delectables.

Freedon of Information act does not apply to classified documents, but I think there is a provision to challenge the security disignation, I will have to look.
Thanks,

There are some manuals designated unristricted, but for official use only. This can explain why somethings are not under the "A" status. I believe tha manpower problem. so many publications on LOGSA that are obsolete, but noone to downgrade their security status.

To my knowledge, most TM's maybe restricted, but not classified; so a Freedom of Information request should work. at worst, a TM with line after line blacked out...
