I'm working in painting my M38a1 to the Marine Corps Green and I'm looking for some input on what yellow I should be using for the marking. I think someone said to John deer yellow cause that's was the closest to yellow drab.
Also does any one know the layout of the markings the Marines used. I've seen a ton of them done up with Army markings but not too many Marines

I'm also working on a '64 USMC contract a1. I read "safety yellow" somewhere. I have some pics of the original layout of my hood #s on my blog - barely legible, but they are original and that's how they will be painted back. https://m38a1usmc.wordpress.com/2017/01/17/meet-usmc-316784-1964-m38a1/

And something that nobody has been able to explain. https://m38a1usmc.wordpress.com/2017/02/26/body-work/ . I found some similar markings to this stenciled under the gas can mount in smaller font.

That's all the markings that I found on mine - no unit crest on the fenders or cowl or tire pressures or anything.
