M820 missing and smoking like mad - help needed

I came down to visit the m820. We spent some time checking things over and after replacing the batteries got her started. There is a definite miss on idle and she smokes like mad at idle and through the rpm range. I even get some sparks and a bit of flame from the exhaust. Anyone have any ideas about what might be wrong?

WAAAAAYYYYYY Too much smoke. Injector, cam, or injector timing.... just guessing. Might also look at the priming pump. Easy to remove and see if the little o-rings are letting in fuel. Again...just guessing.

Augiedoggy, thanks for the link. Sounds really close to the problem. In about 20 minutes of running I had a lot of fuel in the oil too.

Ether........yikes! I am with papabear on that knock. It does not sound like it went away. Did it run fine when you parked it? I hope you did not detonate anything. I would refrain from high rpm's until you figure out what happened.

Figured out one of the problems. Some knuckle head didn't have the push rods seated under the intake and exhaust rocker arms. They were moving up an down from the cam follower - just not opening any valves. I don't want to even think about all that fuel going in there with no way to get out. Good news is she fired right up and no more missing!!! I have a pretty nasty fuel leak to fix before doing any more troubleshooting. Here's a pick of what I found when opening the rocker box. I think once she gets a proper valve adjustment and injector adjustment she'll be just fine.
