Guys would these statements be true?

An M871 is well suited for a M932 tractor

An M872 is well suited for a M916 tractor

An M871 can be pulled buy an M932 and M916

An M872 can be pulled by an M932 and an M916 but it is over kill and better suited for an M916

TIA!

If you want the trailer to ride level, you'll need to pull them with a m915. You can definitely feel the weight of the m871 when pulling it with an m931/932.
Having dragged my M871 back with my 931, I would agree with this statement. Even unloaded, hills were noticeable. :(

Don't forget the M916 and M920 have the fifth wheel plate for the large pin. You have to change it out in order to couple to the 871 and 872. The plate is an $850 item and the p/n is listed here somewhere.

The M871 and M872 are very well suited for the M915A1. Neither are well suited for the M916. The M871 is well suited for M931 in lower speed and offload environments.

...and what Mil trailers would be well suited for an M916?

Additionally is there someplace in the TM or other-pace I can read this stuff?

Thank YOU!

Bighurt is correct but mainly the M172A1, in that combination it is known as the "LET" or light equipment transporter, if a Cat D7 can be called light. That is what is mainly transported in engineer units.

There is probably a list somewhere that someone compiled listing what woill work with what.

Wish I could find it. This is a good start.

The -10 TM (operators manual) for each truck, will state applicable trailers.

eg. TM 9-2320-363-10 for the M915 A2, M916 A1 & 'A2, ...in Characteristics 1-9 it states:

M916A1 & A2 is used for the M172, M870, 60PRS and WD6S semi trailers.
M915A2:- M871, M872 and M1062 semi trailers

Thank U Zee!

I have been pouring over the tm's and found
a little info but there are a lot of combinations
that have to be considered.

Zee, beat me to it cause i can't log in at work.

However the TM isn't all inclusive, there are most liekly trailers you can tow that aren't listed. There are also caution's against certain trailers

The M870A1 is a versatile trailer with a 40 ton payload and not overwidth.

Can't log in at work?
The system at work doesn't allow me to login because of its internal security system. In a given day I see "blocked" in all its forms a dozen or more times, mostly messing around but collage pages, aerospace websites, and even a few DoD sites get blocked. They are so few manned they just block everything and thus have less to watch.

He works for uncle sam.
At the moment...
