MEP-803a Spring Cleaning

After reading someones post here about an oil leak with their 803a I decided to do some spring cleaning on my unit. Glad I did.

Discovered a family of mice had moved into the storage box where I keep back up filters. They chewed up the Wix box and made a nice nest. Fortunately no wires chewed.

Did some cleaning to find where I was getting a slow leak and also performed some mouse proofing.

I removed the foam and plate under the engine and installed steel mesh to keep mice out. Also put mesh on the side vent holes.

Thought I had a leak at the well hole so cleaned that up and it remained dry, may have to replace that on next cleaning though.

Discovered my oil leak was from leaving the drain valve set to open, now it's nice and clean.

Next up is fuel filters and an oil/filter change.

Got a chance to repair my oil leak today and change up the drain plug so the process would be easier and cleaner. I cleaned as good as I could and waited a few days so I could confirm the source of the leak.

Being on the farm I usually work with whats available so glad I had the parts.

After getting the oil drain done I took the top cover off to complete the mouse proofing.

This is why I do spring cleaning!!!

That's a mouse nest built directly on top of the terminal blocks behind the main panel. I would have never seen this had I not taken the cover off. Very thankful they hadn't started chewing the wiring yet (that I can see). I'll be going over everything in detail tomorrow and will seal accordingly.

Yup, those little bastards love right below the windings, right on that terminal block. Glad you found it! Had I seen this thread earlier, I would have told you to make sure to take the top off too. Dont forget there are two holes under the batteries, and how do you have the power entry sealed off? Just the bag tied?

I put mesh over the battery holes just in case and I zip tied the power entry bag. They even chewed the rope that secures the wrench.

Cleaned and running but now fuel level gauge and coolant temp gauges stopped functioning, I'll get to those next week.

Now that it's clean I want to build an auxiliary tank setup and eventually a shelter.
