Greetings all! I am a new member who currently resides over on the east coast in New Jersey. Over the past year I completed the import of my Landie from Europe to the US. While I know that this is predominantly a US vehicle forum, it never hurts to have access to folks who are smart on Military vehicles and parts sourcing within CONUS. Looking forward to interacting with y'all and getting out to some military vehicle shows/events in the near future.

The truck is an 1991 Ex-Ministry of Defense Land Rover Defender 110 Tithonus. These trucks were the best examples of the General Service fleet that were selected for the Land Rover Life Extension Program which underwent a refurbishment in 2007-2008. This truck served as a radio support vehicle in the Royal Artillery, then a Signals unit, followed by time in 4 Para. Love to talk Land Rovers and the like with anyone who is interested.

Many thanks in advance,
Bubba aka BaronVonSmooch

It could be construed as a portion of the pinelands. I'm over in Burlington County so there are a few places out there to go.

The wheels and tires are not stock. It initially came with WOLF wheels and tires on it. I wanted to go with something a little larger and more aggressive as I also use this for Overlanding and off-roading.

Welcome fellow "Roverite"!!
NJ is very healthy for Rover activity though predominantly civi ones - I am off to a do there early Aug - maybe 25 of all ages, probably only a few ex-mod.
Our Rover do is in Nov - upstate NY, great crowd and lots of off roading....

Most MV groups I've seen (and especially the one I belong to) have at least a few members with European MVs of some sort. The 4x4 group I belong to also has a Landie and a Pinzgauer (4x4) that can both out-wheel anything else without even trying.

Thanks for the welcome! I've crossed paths with some of the Landie guys in the region, most have been from the Northern parts of New Jersey or Pennsylvania. I doubt I would be able to make any gatherings in early August as the truck just got dropped off at a shop to drop in a 300 TDi, but I am always looking for more Rover events whenever they become available! Let me know what group to join for details and I will figure out if I can make it out!

Welcome aboard from TN. I would like to see photos and read more info on the TDI swap when you get time. That sounds really cool.

I did have my truck out at Sussex with a few of the Land Rover lightweight guys. I'd love to make my way over to the show over in Gilbert and its looking like I may be able to make it for that.

Did you import the LR or did you buy it from an importer there on the east coast? I keep looking at those ex-mod rovers online over the pond but don't know how hard or costly it would be to bring one over. My dad taught me how to drive a stick back in the mid 80's in his old series II. I'd love to have a RHD rover.

I had a bit of unique situation. I lived in Germany for a couple years and bought my truck directly from Witham's Specialist Vehicles up in the UK. They were acting as the DRMO process contractor for the UK Ministry of Defense. After buying my truck from them, it served as my daily driver for two years that I had to work on the truck and do small projects throughout to restore it. Afterwards the truck was shipped and I went through import via the DoD processes.

If you are interested I can get you in touch with a few importer friends I have made along the way as the Land Rover community is relatively small. Two of them come to mind who deal a whole lot in getting ex-MOD trucks over to the US. PM me and I can give you some contact info.

Thank you. I'll keep this mind. I'm in no position right now to even think about buying anything. Hope you stick around as I may contact you if I get the chance. ( I was stationed in the U.K. In the early 90's and now kicking myself for not buying one while I was there and getting uncle same to ship it home for me since I was allowed to ship home one vehicle at no cost to me)

Welcome from Arizona and the Jersey Cape! [thumbzup]

Nice pics of your MV! Thanks!

I'm in South Jersey trying to continue working on my M35A2.
Stormy weather and nasty mosquitoes have made progress
difficult and slow. Hope to be able to get more done if I can
return in the fall. Only have a few days left here in the east.

Have fun with your project! It looks nice! :)
