I posted the questions about the injection pump on my dump truck earlier. Today I got it running and it runs great. I knew the guy I got it from said the one time he started it that it ran wide open and he shut it down with the shut off cable. When I tried to crank it there was no fuel. So what if the fuel did no turn back on when the cable was pushed back in. Removed the plate with the shut off rod today and yes it is stuck. This shaft is aparrently the control shaft for the rack. When I moved it back it started right up. I sprayed PB blaster on the shaft and kept it running by controling it with my fingers. when the engine got hot and with repeatedly working the shaft by hand it freed up and now works great She purrs like a kitten. Now to figure out why the brakes don't work. Thanks for the replies to my earlier questions.

Yes, but the key is how broken. Inspected today and apparently the Motor Pool had started working on them. The hydralic line is missing from the master cylinder to the air booster and the bootom shield plate under the air booster only has one bolt in it. I would guess rebuild the master cylinder first and then check the booster. Any suggestions?

Thanks

First thing I would do is take the master cylinder off and check to see if it leaked any fluid in to the air unit. 99% of the time if brake fluid has leaked in to the booster its junk. The fluid just eats all the seals and will cloge the atmospheric valve. If not I would do just as you said, rebuild the master and hook up all the lines and see whats up. :turn:

Thanks for the reply. I have pulled both master cylinder and air pack. Master cylinder was leaking to the outside and the inside was gunked-up. Cleaned and honed it. There were two rough spots which took a lot of honing to smooth out but I think it will hold a rebuild. Tore down the air pack this morning and it was half full of fluid. Is it rebuildable or do I need to locate a replacement?

the case should be fine. Just check to see if there are any pits in it. As you know brake fluid does hold water just fine so pitting or rust could be a problem. but if not a rebuild/gasket set should be all you need. there were some units and gaskets sets on ebay really cheap for the 5 ton. check there or try saturn surplus. let me know if i can help with parts or anything else

I checked ebay and could not find anything. Did you see something recently and i missed it? Tell me how you search to find parts. I e-mailed a list to Saturn to see if they have what I need and price.
