1998 M1079. What is the voltage and current draw across the red start button contacts? Thanks!

Low current. I believe it’s 24 volt. You can replace with most simple keyed momentary switches for security purposes.

I'm looking at a 2A 12v tubular switch.

I think that's abit small 12volts 2 amps would only be 1 amp 24 volts it only does starter solenoid but it a big one. I would say at least a 10amp rated at 24 volts at min ever time you push it it arcs inside and if it's to small will quickly wear out

What is the coil draw of the starter solenoid?
I may just have to throw a meter across the button....

The button triggers a Bosch style relay in the panel. Few ma at best.

I ordered one of these...

3A 125v should be fine I hope. Wanted a different style key that was a little less common.

You will want to solder short wires with spade connectors on the ends to the switch terminals and insulate everything.
