Vent window stud.

The stud on the bottom of my passenger side vent window broke off from the vent frame. In looking at the stud from the inside of the door it looks like there is a nut and spring on the stud but the nut does not appear to hold the stud to the door. What holds the stud to the door?
I would like to remove the stub and possibly weld it back onto the vent frame.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

I removed the whole assembly, then took out the stud from the frame. The stud is held in by the nut, spring and washers (fiber and steel). Then I welded the stud, back on. Tack weld it first so you can put it back in to get the angle correct. Remove and finish welding. Just dont do what I did. I left off the washers and had to remove the window and put the washers on then put it back in. Not too hard to fix.
