NP218 - Speedometer Gear Installation Help

I just found this: NV15054 It looks like it may be the same part with a new integrated rubber washer. (Of course the site I found it on went down as soon as I found it!)

NP218 - Speedometer Gear Installation Help

ya, it doesn't look so bad.. just trying to get everything I'm going to need before I start the job. I've got some o-rings so I guess I'll try that. I figured there was some standard washer for those drain/fill plug bolts... but so far I've not found anything except an ebay listing to buy 8...

NP218 - Speedometer Gear Installation Help

Ok, since I'm going to have to get into the transfer case and replace the driver gear (I think). I need to drain the fluids (which I need to do anyway). I've got a slight weap out of the drain plug already, so I know I need a new washer on the plug. But I've not been able to find either...

NP218 - Speedometer Gear Installation Help

That is exactly what I'm afraid of. Using the mirror I can see a green worm gear with what looks like clear teeth. But that doesn't mean it's working right.. ;)

NP218 - Speedometer Gear Installation Help

Unfortunately it still isn’t working for me. Everything is now repaired but it doesn’t appear the it’s spinning the cable. does anyone know what might be wrong or need adjustment? I’ve got it lined up, and no spinning. I can take it out of the transfer case and spin it.

What's the best way to get rid of the asbestos in an M934?

If you do decide to do it yourself, be sure to understand any state and local laws and regulations on doing any sort of asbestos mitigation. While not applicable to you, in Minnesota I'm allowed to do 5 linear feet of asbestos removal as the owner of a home, vehicle, etc... But I still need to...

Batteries Blew Up & Caused A Fire

I've used baking soda and water mixture before to neutralize and clean up battery acids before under the hood of a car.. I think the key (for the truck) is get the acid off everything you can, and it should be fine.. LOTS of water, lots and lots and lots of water.. As far as the building...

NP218 - Speedometer Gear Installation Help

Well, I finally figured it out. The markings were under some sort of undercoat that had been sprayed all over the transfer case. On my particular transfer case, there were two markings embossed onto the casting, with an arrow to a circle. The arrow pointed the "26-31" mark to the circle...

Has anyone gutted a N3135 regulator?

Good luck. I hate potting compounds so much for things like this. Could they have been using the chips to dissipate heat or is this purely anti-tampering?

NP218 - Speedometer Gear Installation Help

The pin from the 90 degree adapter broke off in my speedometer gear. To diagnose everything I removed the Speedometer Adapter (TM 9-2320-280-24P-2 Figure 488 Part 19) and the gear (part 17). Verified the pin was broken off inside of the gear (17) and no way for me to get it out. So I'll have...

    hmmwv white smoke

With my vehicle I ended up: “new” glow plugs were counterits and failed, replaced them with good ones… found the start box was now bad. Replaced that. Then the cold advance sensor was bad… replaced that. And then found the head gasket had a coolant leak. only reason I mention this. With...

    hmmwv white smoke

White smoke is usually coolant in the combustion. At best head gasket leak, maybe head cracked, but could be catastrophic if the block has cracked. Only way to know, check the coolant for combustion gases and check the exhaust for coolant. (There are test kits for each.) If it is coolant...

Glow plug tip broke off while engine was running.

bits of (the previous owners) 10mm glow plug tips went through my engine. When my head gasket failed, I had to pull the heads and there were definitely flat marks on a few of the pistons. Shop wanted me to know, as well as make sure the piston hadn't hit the valves.. when I explained the...

    Glow Plug Replacement

I've bought 3 sets of glow plugs, 1 from Mac and 2 from KASCAR. Both have been authentic. (Haven't use the 2nd set from KASCAR yet, it's sitting in my 'spare parts' set... And yes, 10mm is junk stay away, run away.. They're never real and are highly likely to fail early (compared to the real...

    Highway Cruising Speed

3-Speed TH400, 6.5L engine (replaced a 6.2L). I can comfortably go 60. I've had it up to 70 _ONCE_ to avoid being run over on the freeway.. but generally I keep it 55-60, anything more then 60 and I worry greatly.
