    Look in TM 9-2320-280-24P-2 under "2202 Heater assembly, water valve, and controls . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 333-1 333" In the TOC

    Purchased a 6.5td from 3500 truck for my M998 & have questions

It must be the area in front of the sump or the front of the sump itself, I have never seen a cross member that passed under the sump on a GM pickup. I could not find a cross from the civy oil pickup and the military pickup but it does not extend much lower than the pump on the military engine...

OUT AND ABOUT WITH MY HMMWV

Yep, they can occur on inland waterways also, that is water not debris it's tossing about, very common this time of year along the TX coast. You can send some of that rain down here, I think you guys have had your share.

The gear in the case on the output shaft might be toast.

Those are called waterspouts, not actually a tornado.

    Purchased a 6.5td from 3500 truck for my M998 & have questions

Yes you have to run it NA, (or custom turbo) only the Van version (also center mount turbo) has the angled intake to head bolts, you cannot run a civy pickup motor with the center mount HMMWV turbo. It might be possible to run the civy turbo, I believe one of the aftermarket turbo setups is...

PETLAS Has anyone tried these tires?

While I had all 5 of my original BFG tires off of the DuraVee I set about diagnosing them, having the "test hub" available really helps determining radial runout and balance. Out of 5 tires there were 3 with very noticeable radial runout, this I initially contributed to the TWF bead locks but I...

    NP218 questions

The output shaft will always be trying to spin in neutral and the engine running, there is a mass of components spinning on the input that that are riding on bushings/bearings and clutches that are wet with fluid on the output shaft, simple friction and fluid surface tension dictates the motion...

First time Humvee owner, lifetime admirer w/ a Q...

Anybody that would intentionally drive into deep water let alone salt water is an idiot, just my opinion ;) EDIT, of course if you are in the military that is different it's not like they own or give a damn about what happens to the vehicle a few years down the road.

    6.5 Tick When Warm 1151A1 2007

Maybe someone else can chime in, I have not tried it myself but read it is "doable" but a REAL PITA. So I would give it as much time as possible before going that route. If it is really loud you should be able to tell which lifter it is with the valve cover off. (edit it will have play in it...

    6.5 Tick When Warm 1151A1 2007

If it is a lifter it should be clear what side of the engine the noise is coming from you can verify buy listening to the valve cover on that side. I use (CAREFULLY) a large screw driver with the handle end to my ear. How many miles have you driven or time have you spent with the engine running...

    NP218 questions

You may want to carefully inspect the front drive shaft, especially the carrier bearing. Although possible it is unlikely your truck has enough miles on it to wear out the chain.

    NP218 questions

We have a rather complete set of TMs listed here, please take advantage of them as they are free. https://www.nsnlookup.com/equipment-intelligence/land/hmmwv You should start with the -10 Operators manual, you will find information like this, that can save you many dollars and headaches in the...

    6.5 Tick When Warm 1151A1 2007

Welcome to the SS forums. It sounds like a leaking lifter not able to stay pumped up, sometimes they will clear up on their own but if not you may need to replace it.

    It's alive!!!

This is exactly why so many preach to do a FULL service on any surplus vehicle before riding around the neighborhood showing off their new toy, or thinking it is a good idea to hitch hike down to the yard and driving their new purchase home.
