    M1008 overdrive switch?

Could be a lock up torque converter, if so NEVER have it locked and come to a stop! 6.2 has enough torque to overcome the lockup clutch and will burn it up in seconds. I think I still have the Tee shirt somewhere. BTW it's not stock if it has twin sticks for the transfer case.

Paint doesn't peel because it's old, that was another issue. I don't know just how old that paint but it may be some old lead based, don't let that bother you! Lead paint covers and lasts great! Just make sure you use a good respirator and have good airflow. Are you using any activator with it...

Seems like this is turning into a build thread.

" New rear springs were sitting on my porch when I got home. Husky 22-403, 2350LBS rated, six leaf, made in Colombia " WOW, here I thought coffee and cocaine was about all that came from Colombia! I was under my long LONG term project and noticed the tranny mounts also oil soaked and dry...

Seems like this is turning into a build thread.

I just want to make sure you know! Two things I see and hope neither give you a problem. #1 the OEM connection to the gear box is splined and that Jeep one is not. does the pinch bolt ride on a 'flat' of the shaft? If not I would refrain from turning the wheel without power steering and try to...

Seems like this is turning into a build thread.

To center the steering wheel, loosen the lock clamp on the drag link, then with the front wheels straight and the truck running (set parking brake) turn the adjusting sleeve and the steering wheel will turn. Easy to do and no toe adjustment necessary because you never messed with it! Save the...

Continue turning the engine without removing the engine - M1009 / Chevrolet Blazer K5 Diesel - Solved

I assume you want to turn the engine over by hand to keep it from seizing up? A couple ways to do this, one I talked about above, using a socket wrench on the harmonic balancer pully bolt. I'm not a fan of doing that as I've always been afraid of breaking or stripping the bolt if the engine is...

Continue turning the engine without removing the engine - M1009 / Chevrolet Blazer K5 Diesel - Solved

Turning the fan will do nothing as it is mounted on a clutch, you could turn the engine over with a socket wrench and a bar from underneath. I don't remember the size of the large bolt on the front of the crankshaft.

    Radiator replacement m1008

Replacement should be a direct bolt in, no shimming needed.

    Windshield rubber m1031

Shake those can real good! There's going to be a LOT of solids on the bottom, I'd open and pour a bit off, then use a metal stir stick to break up the solids then shake, shake and shake some more, then add back what was poured off and stir. Using old paint can really suck if you don't have a...

Batteries, Charging, and using a Winch question.

After finding and fixing the issue, in the future if you need to do and extended winching (or jump starting) I've found that moving the throttle open by hand and placing a nickel in between the throttle and the stop provides a nice high idle. Just remember to remove it before stepping on the...

Documented Curt 14082 Receiver Hitch install on my M1031

Those rectangular shiny steel pieces, if I'm not mistaken have square holes punched in them and are supposed to be on top of the bottom frame flange and provide reinforcing and hold the HD carriage bolts that should have been in the hardware kit.

    M1028 Cracked Transmission Case

I have had the same thing happen with 700R4 cases, I don't know if this would work but it's worth a look. The threads in the top two holes ripped out , I could thread a bolt in but it wouldn't hold. On the 700 those two hole are thru hole and there's just enough room to fit a nut behind it...

New Member With A Broken M1008

I take it that this was at one time a fire truck? Nozzle nutz love their lights! Many years ago I worked on a few ambulance's and fire PU's converted to brush trucks and the wiring was always a mess. All you can do is start following the wires and keep a test light handy.
