My understanding is it free-wheels until set temp is reached, then engages. I would imagine you ford with engine at cooler temp and water will keep engine cool after entering. Is that incorrect?

viscous fan clutch should free wheel when it hits the water. The Black Dog clutch is fixed, so I may be screwed on fording. AI told me it's possible, but I don't like the idea of that at ALL. Anyone know of an upgrade to viscous fan clutch for an A2 engine?

Well, that sucks. No plans to ford, but I hate that it isn't an option in a pinch... well, I guess it IS an option - just a one-timer, lol.

Sorry, forgot to mention former owner installed this kit (but was still having overheating issued because he only had electric puller fan).

So, I replaced temp gauge, flushed radiator thoroughly and installed new 195 degree thermostat in addition to replacing eletric fan with new upgraded Black Dog mechanical fan. Now temperature gauge sits just under 180 degrees unless I push engine hard in 90's+ outside temps - where it gets...

Can confirm - amazing performance. Black Dog rep said while he hadn't actually tried water fording with this kit, he believed it "wouldn't be a problem"... Any idea?

Replaced electric fan with Black Dog hydraulic fan clutch delete kit upgrade. HUGE difference! I have electric "pusher" fan on top as well, but won't use it until I get my 120 Amp downcoverter 12V system installed - as I think former owner's 12V electric fan is what killed the regulator. Just...

    Burning out directional flasher module?

This fixed my blinker issue. Still working on break lights. I have narrowed it down to either the brake switch itself or the linkage. Does anyone know if the same year (2001) Hummer break switch is compatible? It is like $7 at AutoZone...

Update. Went through diagnostic flowchart and determined regulor was bad. Swapped it with used one from Dubai and this solved my issue!

Can you tell by looking at this picture? Belt is back on so I can't try that now...

200 amp generator / regulator that works periodically...

Yes, I printed it out and have read through it. However, I did not see anything about the clutch pulley - or perhaps that is broadly covered by the "alternator is defective"... I will take it with me when I go to my son-in-law's to test everything.

200 amp generator / regulator that works periodically...

Thank you - will do. I hope to get the assistance of my electrician son-in-law. My one concern was the clutch pulley. I have heard those can cause my issue - but I am unsure how to diagnose that. As I said in the opening, the generator pulley turns easily and smoothly by hand with the belt...

Thank you! I am unable to start it yet, as I just reinstalled the radiator and oil cooler and need to refill fluids when I have time. First have to jack up front end and turn wheels 40 times, lol. However, that is the very next thing I will do once that is done.
