    Recommendations - FLU419 review for purchase ?

Based on previous comments you've made I did price brake boosters (as you noted at roughly 1k). Ouch, I'm sorry to hear you lost your air, but your experience is exactly what I was pondering. I recently lost rear brakes on one of my passenger trucks and that emergency brake saved my rear, which...

OK, thank you, I suspected all shifting would be interrupted/frozen. I was pretty sure brakes would be affected, suspecting it would trigger low air alarm and possibly lock brakes. I didn't think 4WD would be affected, but figured lockers wouldn't work. I'm glad I asked as it looks like my...

I did a quick check of the alcohol reservoir and delivery valve. Both appears (external review only) in good shape. The valve actually looked fairly new. I'm planning on checking the air tanks and (as you noted) expect very rusty water. Two quick questions. 1) Are there any components in the...

Thanks for mentioning the rods. I noticed a bit of tiny rust pitting on the bucket and dipper cylinders. But was able to rub it off with my fingers, so (I think) their still OK. I have started reading the 'Owners' thread (about first 15 pages), thanks for noting this. I've been splitting my...

Thanks for jumping in and providing another option :). It sounds like this section rots out very often.

OK, excellent to know :). I was wondering if copper nickel might be too soft, but figured it had a fair shot a working. Is the cross over tube (typically) the only section that is problematic?

Thanks for the info. I was guessing with one quick look they were around 12-13 OD. I figured bending would be tough or possibly impossible without a bender. Have you had any issues with any other air lines?

    Recommendations - FLU419 review for purchase ?

Thanks again, you answered another question I researching which is can I make the line(s) myself with copper/nickel :)? I've made brake lines for cars before with double flares, etc, but I noticed these lines are much bigger diameter and may be much hard to fabricate.. Plus knowing there is a...

Again thanks! You also answered a question I was os Thanks for jumping in :). I know now there is a quick fix should I purchase this rig :)..

    Recommendations - FLU419 review for purchase ?

Thank you very much for this (critical) information. I had no idea the air system was so expansive! I thought it was pretty much solely brakes. I'm working through a crash course on the various air circuits (initial charge, stage I / II brake boost) and the accessories circuits (4WD,diff lock...

    Recommendations - FLU419 review for purchase ?

Gary - Thanks for sharing your experiences to date. I am getting more comfortable with getting parts. I pulled a few random NSN numbers and (to my suprise) in most cases the parts appeared to be available :).

I'm sorry, I should have been more specific. By non-running I just meant I didn't have access to start it, etc. Absolutely will go over all components once the owner is there with key, etc. So how long have you had your SEE, have you had an major issues, have you found getting parts to be an...

    Recommendations - FLU419 review for purchase ?

I have Expedition Imports at the top of (limited) list :). From what I've read the back hoe being a Case 580 (as you noted) should be fairly easy for parts (although guessing a bit). My main concern are Unimog parts in general (406, etc), or (again as you noted) the 419 specific parts. For...

    Recommendations - FLU419 review for purchase ?

Hi guys - I'm looking at 419 and would appreciate any guidance on going over it. I have decades of car knowledge, but zero heavy equipment diesel knowledge. I've been studying the manuals for some time, which I believe gives me a good foundation to work from. Am I correct that the primarily...

FLU419 road driving legal concerns and challenges?

Yeah, the differing state laws are really the recurring elephant in the room. It really causes confusion and challenges for anyone new to MV, like myself.

FLU419 road driving legal concerns and challenges?

To me this makes a lot of sense for folks that have this option. You don't have the excessive restrictions that historic tends to have, but still benefit from cheap insurance. One question: Under 'farm' are you limited to under 25 MPH? Do you need an SMV, etc?

FLU419 road driving legal concerns and challenges?

Now this one sounds interesting. The moment I hear 'commercial' I think very expensive. So what classification / code etc in Georgia allows commercial for non-commercial use? It sounds like this option basically registers it as a private use vehicle without any restrictions?

FLU419 road driving legal concerns and challenges?

What kind of usage restrictions are there? I agree, I'm trying avoid the SMV route. This tends to degrade a real benefit 419's have. BTW, Like the name :). Thankfully never had a woble on a bike (yet), but have had to deal with and (promptly) fix death wobble a few times with my modfied jeep.

FLU419 road driving legal concerns and challenges?

Thanks for mentioning historic, I forgot about that option. Certainly this is a common sense option, but the restrictions in many states is extreme which is a big deterrent if the risk of being caught is high.

FLU419 road driving legal concerns and challenges?

Hi Guys, My (rough) understanding is there are typically 4 primary classifications folks use for road use with their 419's. 1) No title / register at all. Folks use a triangle (SMV / SIS) for road use. * How do you handle insurance if an accident occurs, or do you simply accept the risk...
