    M45 Compressor truck

Jon, I finally removed the manhole cover on the tank. the inside was clean and oily. The tank is also the oil reservoir for the compressor. I will get it inspected once, if ever I find the parts needed for the compressor's engine.

    M45 Compressor truck

After some time and Florida, I moved to Oklahoma. Finally getting down to finishing the brakes and servicing the front axle. Replacing all the 1/4 brake lines on the axles and the flexible lines/wheel cylinders on the front axle. Next, remove the knuckle and finish cleaning. That boot has seen...

    M35 Variations Rarity

My M45 truck built in 1957. I think it's a second generation truck after the initial contract order in the early 50's. It didn't enter service until the early 60's being that's when the chassis was married with Harris Equipment Air Compressor. I'll get to the point through all this rambling, the...

    Cleaning data plates

I had some data plates that where the black background was faded. I used some liquid soap and a soft toothbrush to clean them up. Then sprayed the data plates with a couple layers of clear coat. I put the data plates in a safe place, so I don't have pictures to share.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

After a year of sitting, finally fired the engine up and moved the truck to a stable platform for brake work. Had to add an electric fuel pump since the mechanical one was having issues. It is so much easier to work under the hood with the fender off. First run.

I Learned (the hard way) an Important Rebuilding Lesson...

This sounds like something my nephew and his friends would do. They fought with getting the lug nuts and tire of my sister's car. They live in the land of salt and cold. I suggested a few tricks to get the nuts off without breaking one. Then they couldn't get the rim off, totally rusted to the...

Flip a switch to use gas?

I remember cold war vets talking about 60/40 mix of DF2 and JP4 while cruising the Autobahn. Some crazy thing about flames coming out the stack. I can run my Deuce on straight gasoline, but then again, it is a gasser lol

Outer Windshield Frame Repair M35, M800, M900 Series and older 5 Tons

Here's some new pictures and ideas. I pulled out this ling rusty flat stock that has two drilled out rivets and some snapped fasteners. This, as it turns out, is the original threaded plate for the window frames. It was held in by two rivets. It looks like when the M35A2 was upgraded to an A3...

Outer Windshield Frame Repair M35, M800, M900 Series and older 5 Tons

I have new frames. The old frames are ok, but the bolts holding the windows in actually came out easy. Now I jinxed myself. Just the front is rusted, everything else is solid.

TM 9-2320-209- 35 has the instructions for the hot water heater and flame winterization kit. I have the manual in PDF, but it's to large to attach. I do not have a clue how to submit it for upload into the TM section.

Outer Windshield Frame Repair M35, M800, M900 Series and older 5 Tons

I pulled a rusty frame off a rusty truck while picking up some other parts. The frame rusted along the top. behind the rail that holds the soft top bead. I have removed that bead holder to expose the rusted metal undernethe. Should I remove what solid metal still remains and weld in a new strip...

    Brake Pads Service Question

Be ready to have your mind blown again, The pumpkins are a modified AMC 20 differential. AMGeneral was a subsidiary of AMC when the Hummer was designed. The stupid partnership with Renault made AMC spin AMGeneral of as a separate company. So technically, all AM General stuff designed between...

    Deuce front winch rebuild questions.

You probably haven't stumped anyone, not to many people around that have rebuilt a winch. From what I remembered about seals, the spring side always faces the oil. Maybe another of the ancient ones will pipe up and offer help. Are you asking about the torque for the winch case bolts and/or the...

    M49 deuce generator sourcing

Troubleshooting the generator is the similar to a starter. The first check would be to remove the belts and run power through the field coil to see if the generator spins. If it does, you have successfully polarized the generator and it should work. If not, it could be dirty commutator or worn...
