I might be a little crazy – 4,000 mile M1079 recovery Illinois to Alaska

For the blinker module, I actually incorporated a truck-lite module. I purchased the one that makes a loud irritating noise as it blinks…hate the noise but the unit has worked for 8 years.

LMTV front axle clunking in mode while turning

Thanks, I wish it was just the locker. I only have a rear locker. And it was definitely coming from the front axle. I was experiencing this while air down to about 55 psi on a gravel forest road. I only experienced the clunk in mode/ low range with the transmission locked up. Not in high range.

Jack stands, I welded a flat plat to the bottom for soft surfaces. Also wood blocks I keep 1.5”x 11.25”x 11.25” blocks multiples. Typically with a flat tire the bottle jack doesn’t have enough stroke to get the tire off the ground and you have to put a jack stand under it then block the jack up...

LMTV front axle clunking in mode while turning

Not sure what you’re asking about overall backlash? Ring and pinion back lash or what? I’ve had the locker in for 6 years and I feel this is something new.

LMTV front axle clunking in mode while turning

Yes I jacked up the front axle and turned the steering and rotated the tires to grease them just before this year’s trip in January 2024. Maybe more grease.

LMTV front axle clunking in mode while turning

I have a 2003 M1078A1 with high speed gears and a rear locker. I’ve owned the truck for 8 years. In the last year we’ve traveled over 20,000 miles I’ve used mode countless times. The last few times when in mode for off road use slight turns left and right I’m getting very obvious clunking from...

Control, we are detecting a shimmy.

After balancing my drive shafts and new unjoints. I still had vibrations changed tires and up the psi it went away. When mine was still an M1078 I ran 85 psi up front which stopped the heavy wearing of the tires. 65 psi in the back yes I had to disconnect the CTIS and do it manually. I feel...
