Turning the fan will do nothing as it is mounted on a clutch, you could turn the engine over with a socket wrench and a bar from underneath. I don't remember the size of the large bolt on the front of the crankshaft.

Those rectangular shiny steel pieces, if I'm not mistaken have square holes punched in them and are supposed to be on top of the bottom frame flange and provide reinforcing and hold the HD carriage bolts that should have been in the hardware kit.

Swapping the trans does not require moving the engine. Perhaps you misunderstood or wrong thread?

If you want a real loud blower type sound just replace the stock fan and clutch with a direct bolt on flex fan and put it on backwards. Don't ask, but it did sound like a blower!
