101 trailer leg question

I have a '68 casemaster 101A1 trailer that was missing the rear landing leg. Buzz found some at Saturn Surplus so I got one also. It was CARC so I remidied that and now it is 24087. The mounting holes were a dead match for the trailer so I bolted it right up, PERFECT? NOT!!
When I went to swing the retracted leg up it hit the frame rail

It intercepted the crossmember by about 3/16". So it was either lower the water or raise the bridge! I ground a bit off the rail and now it swings up to lock in the up position :yeah:

Any one else run into this?
