Connected my MEP-803A the proper way as my home standby generator... Install pics...

You can, but to be safe I always put a UPS or line conditioner between the electrical outlet and the sensitive device.

    Quirky MEP-803 voltage regulator ?

Can this adjustment on the voltage regulator be done while the generator is running?

    MEP-003a - Temporary Voltage Fluctuation

My mep-803a voltage tends to fluctuate, around 5+/- volts depending on load. Anyone know what part I should be looking at replacing? Thanks, Matt

Thanks for all the information guys. I really appreciate it. Got all the wiring done and tested it out. Works like a champ. I used 50' of 4 gauge 4 conductor wire for the hookup. Also drove an 8' grounding rod and hooked it to the chassis ground lug.

I'm a little confused with the wiring configuration regarding ground and neutral. Right now my home electric panel has ground and neutral bonded. I wired in my 803A generator to my home using two 60 amp breakers and an interlock kit. The neutral and ground inside the electric panel aren't...

    MEP-803a auto frequency controller!

I do have the Generac governor assembly and stepper motor but the throttle spring on the generator is so strong the stepper motor can't hold or even move the throttle. Unfortunately I'm not experienced enough at designing a custom throttle linkage to counter the heavy spring.

    MEP-803a auto frequency controller!

Thanks for the great advice Rebel635. I remember seeing something listed in the Technical Manual about frequency droop but I hadn't put time into investigating that. I will now!! Thanks!

    MEP-803a auto frequency controller!

I also reached out to Peter about 2 months ago expressing interest in designing and building an electronic governor assembly but due to my schedule I just didn't have time to work on it with him. Just like Glockfan I too have about $500 wrapped up in a small prototype that I put together for my...

In regards to keeping fresh batteries you might want to look into a desulfator battery maintainer/charger. On my MEP-803A I have a 24-Volt Solar Battery Charger/Desulfator from PulseTech. High frequency pulses reduce the size and number of lead sulfate deposits on the battery plates so...

    MEP-803a auto frequency controller!

Awesome setup Glockfan! Saw your home install thread and am now adopting your ideas for my own home setup. Regarding the electronic governor, I know there is a company called Woodward and they offer governors and control systems for diesel engines but I'm not sure if any of their products...
