I don't remember it being difficult, so I just took a look.
It looks like you remove the door handle (1 screw in the center), and the 3 screws surrounding it, and then remove the 3 screws around the latch. 1 on the interior, and 2 on the back edge of the door, above and below the actual latch...
Just based on what I learned when reading about lifting Jeeps, I would put the shackle at an angle (not 90°). On those, they are worried about the shackle inverting when flexing the suspension off-road. That often ends up bending the spring.

I'm not sure about 24084, but the 24087 I got (Not Behr, but the color should be similar no matter the paint) could definitely be considered brown, especially on a computer screen.. It might be worth buying the sample to see if it's right. Then you could test your painting process as well.
