Hello,
Are the short lines between the tank and the steel lines a common place for air to enter the lines? I have clear hose under the hood and I see bubbles rising to the input of a spin-on filter. I thought I saw bubbles where I have an electric lift pump down on the frame rail but haven't...
My factory gauges no longer work and I'm done messing with the mechanical speedo. I have aftermarket water and oil pressure analog gauges already, a matching tach on the shelf and a electric speedo in the mail.
Now just looking for ideas for a gauge layout others have tried.
I have an...
Has anyone tried these on their CUCV?
https://intellitronix.com/products/digital-gauges/direct-replacement-dash/chevy-73-87
My speedo adapter died again and I've always wanted a tach where the fuel gauge is...
They don't have much info on the site so I'm wondering if anyone has tried the...
So now that the "Polar vortex 2.0" boogie man is upon us I've found my water temp doesn't get past 175 indicated.
The heater line is only luke warm. Thing is, so is the radiator supply hose and radiator.
Should a T-stat flow a little bit of coolant all the time?
the thing is only a month...
Looks like my radiator is done and I'm looking at new ones.
I was contemplating the need for a water-cooled oil cooler line. Does the OEM setup offer any advantage compared with an external air-cooled oil cooler? I have a manual tranny now so no need for the tranny cooler part.
Anyone know...
Does it matter where you tap the hole for a mechanical boost gauge? Do you need to pick the location carefully to avoid berneulli affect from giving low readings?
So reason I ask is that the first place I tried was the port on top of the intake upper used for the EGR from the factory. That...
Is there any way to easily figure out if I have the wrong (reverse flow) water pump?
I put this one ( http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=59175 ) in during my turbo install.
The one I recieved looks like all the photos. Because of that flange on the impeller I couldn't actually see...
Q1: Is there any reason to not run a deep cycle in the front and standard in the rear?
I have an optima blue top laying around rated at 750 CCA (I think). My other battery is a "commercial" 31 or 35 series lead acid battery from a farm supply chain. rated at 800 or 850 CCA.
Q2: I don't have...
Are there any issues with hub spacing with V-velts?
The water pump pulley was scraping against my new water pump. I could hear it and I can see where it scraped through some engine paint I put on the WP before remounting everything.
So I put some small lockwasher under the studs that hold the...
I just changed my harmonic balancer and getting ready to tackle timing chain and waterpump...
I just looked up those parts of the manual and see I have to take the balancer back off:doh:
Do I need to replace the woodruff again like it was a stretch bolt or crush washer? Engine hasn't been...
So I just got a 6.5TD setup from a guy parting out his pickup. Looking a bit closer at my M1009 and it looks like it's going to be a tight fit between the manifolds and the frame on the passenger side.
So for those that have performed this before: would it be easier to pull the whole engine...
Why would there be no voltage and the "GEN 1" warning light be dimmy lit?
I rebuilt my alternator using all new parts I ordered from CUCV Electric a while back. I didn't both testing the old stuff, I just changed everything.
Yes, I removed the little grenade pin from the brusholder after it...
Taking a quick poll....what is the general consensus on the stock M1009 axles?
Cruising the 4x4 side of the internets it seems that 1 ton running gear is a standard upgrade for anyone looking to get into massive tires or rock crawling.
I even found a few vids of people breaking their factory...
My turbo400 has finally died so the time has come to swap it.
This is some thing I've never tried before so excuse my ignorance: is a Tranny jack necessary to do this outside or will a engine crane through the cab work?
I own neither and was planning to get a crane as its more versatile but is...
I thought I had pics of where the gen 2 relay, diode, ign switch etc. all where but I guess I saved them on my work computer.
Does anyone remember which thread those were posted on? I can't find it for the life of me.
Many thanks!
While trying to diagnose a Gen 1 light flickering I ran into this:
With the engine running, I pulled the red/brown pigtail on driver side alt. gen 2 light came on.
With engine running, pigtail back on gen 1, I pulled pigtail on gen 2 and neither light comes on.
Does any of that make...
I talked to a shop in Indianapolis that can get PPG CARC paint. However, they said theres a minimum order of a case (4 gallons). A 4 gallon case with the appropriate amount of catalyist works out to $800.
I want to buy a gallon only. Anyone around these parts want to go in on a case with me?
First, sorry if this is explained elsewhere, I haven't been able to find it with search.
Anyway, plenty of info on HOW to put a turbo on the 6.2 but I haven't seen much about the improvement. Any more power, any better MPGs?
I don't like how the extra tubing clutters up the engine compartment...
Long shot but does anyone happen to have the dimensions or a drawing of the tailgate window?
Mine broke out last night in a weird one in a million chance while loading lumber at lowes. I was planning to remove it and trace it's shape onto butcher paper for future reference this summer but lady...
I think I have a line on a SM465/NP208 combo with bellhousing from a chevy 350 from a local ad. Price is right for the combo so I'm curious what else I'll need. I have zero experience with drive system work that involves cranes/hoists or lifts.
So, I think I need a clutch pedal, clutch...
