PETLAS Has anyone tried these tires?

I got a set of 4 new enforcers from Mac motors for under $2k (including shipping). I had to go pick them up at a local freight depot to get reasonable shipping. That was over a year ago, not sure of current pricing. Installed w run flats and they run smooth up to highway speeds (got lucky that...

    Texas FMV bumper stencil markings

Why do folks care what body style is on their registration? A difference in registration fees? For fmv registration, it’s good for 5 years (and no inspection fees), so super cheap any way you slice it.

    Texas FMV bumper stencil markings

I have my 1123 registered as FMV in Texas and used the stencil numbering as my license rather than getting a plate. I can't speak for correct Army markings (mine has the Marine markings on the hood, b pillar, and tail gate). It is titled with the VIN as the serial number on the data plate...

Odyssey PC2250ST 6tl the bad? best seller?

It can work without a BMS if everything is working well, but all lifepo4 batteries should be built with a BMS in my opinion. Without a BMS, you have no protection against over voltage at the cell (or pack) level. It shouldn't be a problem at the pack level if your alternator/voltage regulator...

M998 won’t start after fuel filter change?

I did the pump on my 1123 without removing the splash guard. It was a pain, but doable.

M998 won’t start after fuel filter change?

If the lift pump age isn’t known, it’s a good component to proactively replace on these trucks in my opinion. Like anything w rubber components, they are prone to aging out even with minimal running time. Certainly look at the check valves as well, but consider replacing the lift pump...

PURCHASED HMMWV WITH NO MODEL YEAR ON DOCUMENTS - TEXAS

+1 on age doesn't matter on FMV registration. My 1123 is registered at FMV as a 2000 year model. 2000 was on my SF97 (govplanet asked what year I wanted on the form). Besides the significantly lower registration cost, the other advantage of FMV registration is that you don't need to have it...

    Batteries.... ?

I’ve already connected w the other forum member who expressed interest and he lives about 5 minutes from me. I’ll ping you if he doesn’t end up getting them.

    Purchasing new tires

First of all, I would definitely check tire date codes if buying a used car, especially if it's a low miles car more than a few years old. I learned that lesson the hard way buying a chevy caprice back in the day that had 4 new-looking michelins on it (it was actually a selling point in my...

    Batteries.... ?

I bit the bullet and got the original military hawkers. I plan to keep the truck for a while and they are made by the same company that makes odyssey batteries. I've got a 12 year old odyssey battery in a jet ski that is still working, so I'm a fan. If you contact the hawker folks direct...

    Purchasing new tires

Bought 4 new Goodyear enforcers from Mac motors, under 2k w shipping. I totally understand the appeal of going used and saving some serious $, but I’ve got a personal hang up on used tires. Mounted them up w run flats and amazed that they run nice and smooth up to 70+ with no balancing. I...

White smoke at idle and driving.

If the motor runs better without fuel to that cylinder, it seems like it might be a problem with the cylinder rather than the injector. Did the smoking stop when you cracked the line? I’d consider swapping injectors with another cylinder and repeat the test. If the problem moves to the other...

    6.5L Idle

It’s a simple (and obvious) adjustment, just a limit screw on the linkage up by the injection pump. Also, check to make sure it is returning all the way. I had to work the spring and bracket a bit to get mine to return reliably all the way to the stop.

    Hmmwv reliability

I'm far from an expert as well, but I think both of those would be pretty far down the list on reliability issues. Maybe the hubs since they can leak and particularly if you including the "stigma" of the spindle nut when not serviced properly. I think the differentials are pretty solid. If...

First HMMWV, is there something I should replace before hitting the trails?

If these trucks didn't need a bunch of stuff, they wouldn't be so cheap.... For most auction trucks, just assume tires, batteries, CDR valve and hose, all fluids/filters. The exception to this might be very recent rebuilds (I've seen some 2018 rebuilds, but they typically go for big $'s). And...

looking for the 2-piece seat belt

I’ve purchased them from Mac motors in the past.

First HMMWV, is there something I should replace before hitting the trails?

Yeah, if it’s an auction truck, almost guaranteed the tires are unusable at road speed. There are places that sell used or old stock tires w recent date codes for reasonable price. I just bit the bullet and went w new tires (about $2k). Some folks will swap out to new rims to expand tire...

First HMMWV, is there something I should replace before hitting the trails?

Depending on the truck’s history, it may be worth checking any rubber component on the truck. In particular, check date codes on tires. They can look perfect, but let loose at any moment if they are old. Not too dangerous off road, but unsafe at road speeds.

    Humvee 400 Amp voltage regulator

If you put a 25a fuse on a battery terminal, you will blow them every time you attempt to start the truck. There is much more than 24a running through those cables during normal operation.
