Hello all. 3 years back I bought some m916a3 trucks a year later I made one into a water truck. Last year. I had another built. Super stout trucks after being modified to my specs. But recently I been having little issues with them. And I need parts. Been to freightliner. Nothing comes up on...
Beautiful truck. If it's still for sale in a few months I'll buy it. I heard of these trucks but never seen one or read about it until now thanks for sharing.
no lift kit is needed. but if you run the xzl when u turn to the right all the way its going to rub on the pitman arm on the steering box. but its nothing to worry about i load my a2's with over 16 tons of water and i never had a problem.
Thanks. And well business is pretty good. And these trucks are tougher than the 5 tons we been running for 16 years. Shipping cost was around6700 from Hawaii to San Diego port.
so i bought a total of 3 m916a3 from pearl harbor. i sent one out to so they can install a 55000 series oshkosh transfercase it has a pricy swap due to the driveshafts being uncommon. but man the truck is super low even with the 16r21s it has now. and 2 weeks ago i sent it to be made into a 4000...
i own a water truck company we work in heavy earth moving construction. next to 657 cat scrapers ,d8-9-10-11 dozers. this truck in particular is my brothers it was a m923a2. now it has a tank. pump, plumbing, pto. he even put a/c and a loud radio in it.
They have to be removed and modified. I have xzls on the m916a1 and I still hAvnt cut them but they will fit when I do.
These motors are are the series 60 ddec 4 motors so i will be able to put a dpf filter on them.
does anyone know how strong these front differentials are? They look super...
hello all. today i took delivery of two m916a3s i bought back in mid November. man they are sweet trucks. everything works on them no issues at all. i plan on taking all the 5th wheel stuff off. putting 16r20s xzls and swapping in a 55000 series oshkosh transfer case. and have them put pto, 4000...
i use nancy at california auto registration service or (c.a.r.s.) in temecula. with her. no trips to the dmv or chp. just go to the scales then to her for a vin verification and whala. i done that with her with all my trucks. super nice professional lady. she worked at the dmv in her younger...
I'll make a build thread when it starts to get taken apart. And yes must be called the evaporator. I'm not 100% sure on ac components but a guy who does all my electrical said that's how it's going to be done. The truck is already full 12 volts
I'm going to have a guy put the ac condenser inside the cab like a normal civilian truck. Because the truck would be too tall to go under the water towers with a roof unit.
Well I put a 4000 gallon tank on mine plus a pump and plumbing. So I'm guessing more than 20 tons of weight. And with 16.00 xzl tires. They can break easily. If you put the wrong person. But I know how to drive and I go months without having downtime.
When I convert my 5 tons to water trucks I have my allison trans guy put the first and reverse gear pack from a 653 on this 654. Which makes it a 8:1 low first and a 5.67 reverse. Perfect for going quicker in reverse and slowwwww in first.
If your only comparing the 250 and 8.3 there's plenty of downs for the 250 like it's heavier, less power, cylinders liners go bad more frequently, too many belts on it, Noiser, less fuel efficient. Has canister filter element for the oil, harder to start when cold also needs more battery power...
