Poll: How do YOU say CUCV?

kuk-v or ten-oh-nine at work. My wife simply calls it the Blazer.

truck1, how do you drive it upside down like that??

Fuel dripping on first start; then less, then stopped

I'm not sure about your leak, but I definitely wouldn't worry about your truck blowing up from a fuel leak. I had fuel dripping directly onto my exhaust manifolds (injector drainback lines) for a while, and I never had issues. It simply doesn't get hot enough for diesel to just combust. Now I'm...

^ Wait, is that a civvy Blazer? Or did you change out the front end?

Man, I really do love the look of desert tan on these trucks. If my truck didn't have a $1600 paintjob, I'd probably paint mine desert tan as well. But I'm enjoying my all black stealth theme.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

I rewired my blower motor switch. I used a 3-way switch as the replacement and installed it next to the volt meter. I left the original intact, for aesthetics. I also painted the trim around the gauges on the instrument cluster, to continue the black/orange theme. The rest of the dash will...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Hmm... that's true, both Optimas can fit on one tray. Maybe I should do that. I never thought of that before.

    New member with a dilemma

Another thing is that the wiring connectors for the rear lights are bad about coming apart. They are just two cup-shaped rubber connectors, and they easily slip out and become disconnected. At least that's what happened on my truck. I bypassed them and re-wired them, and my taillights are good...

What model K5 Blazer is the M1009?

Ah yeah, that's right. The Silverado panels have that stupid leather strap that always break off at the mounting point. I've never seen an old Silverado with one of those intact.

What model K5 Blazer is the M1009?

Custom Deluxe. Did the door panels differentiate that much between those models? I thought they were all the same...

^ Wow that's pretty cool. What do you run on the tablet while you're in the truck?

Nice! Congratulations. You've been bitten by the bug; it's all downhill from here.

I tried that, and it didn't hold up for very long. Using 1/8 on the injectors is a really tight fit, but it works. And you can use 1/8 without clamps.

Replaced the fuel drainback tubing today. I used 1/8 tygon from a local hardware store. $5 for 5 feet of it. Done deal. And another thing I did today... Ebenezer has gone topless!

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Painted the outline of the bowtie on my truck's grill. I used Chevy orange paint. Next step is to paint the blackout and slave port black, so it matches the rest of the truck.

    M1009 Trip Report (MPG)

I'm pretty light on the throttle in my 09. I get about 18-20 around town. The truck hasn't gone on a long drive yet (since I've had it at least) but I'd like to see what it does on the highway. I'm running on 33x10.50 General Grabbers; truck is stock otherwise.

    Fuel Delivery Issues, Part 3

The only reason I didn't go about this the right way is because of my current financial situation, which I'd rather not get into. I'm not intentionally avoiding doing the repairs properly, I simply didn't have another choice at the time. I've been turning wrenches for a decade; trust me, I'm...

    Fuel Delivery Issues, Part 3

Well, the 5/32 didn't hold up that long. After a few days, they started leaking. Although I should admit that I didn't use fuel tubing - I used vacuum lines. So they swelled up from the fuel contact, on top of being 1/32 bigger than the OE fuel tubing. Don't shun me, I know it won't hold up to...

    Rosscommon 12 volt conversion opinion

The only thing I can think of that MAY hinder acceleration and fuel economy, is two alternators operating on full load instead of just one. As we all know, an alternator providing full load doesn't spin as freely as one that isn't. But even then, the difference is so marginal, I really don't...
