    V100 Restoration Project

Yaaaaaaaaawn. My winter hibernation is just about over. I'm looking forward to opening up the garage and getting back to work. Now I've got to remember where I left off!

    Turret Info wanted.

Looks just like the one I have, a Bradley prototype. I've got SN SP0001. I'm missing the control box that sits atop the traverse/elevation control. Do you have any close-ups of it. I'd also like to get the model no. of the slip ring if you've got it. A great find! Derrick

    V100 Restoration Project

Thanks for all the kind comments. BUT.... I've left you guys hang'n long enough. That great picture is the result of several hours of Photoshop during a rainy weekend.. But that's pretty much what it will look like, turret and all. The picture is a motivational piece to keep me on...

    V100 Restoration Project

At 6 ft, Dr. Evil maybe, but Minimi!!! :D The gross weight of the school bus is around 30,000 lbs. Almost twice that of the V100 (at full combat weight). So, I'll have plenty of extra torque. But I won't be "gunning it" at the stop sign. I've got to protect the transfer case. I don't...

    V100 Restoration Project

Na, no trouble at all. 25mm practice/ball rounds are not DD's. If I want to go shooting HE rounds on the other hand.... then yes, each round would be a DD. I've got tons of projos and cases so I'm good to go. I do have a 1919 and I love it. It's a great "little" gun :o D.

    V100 Restoration Project

This next post will probably stir up a lot of interest.... I decided to go diesel for the powerplant. I wanted something electronic with an automatic transmission. I chose International's T444E (V8 Turbo diesel). I purchased a 1997 Amtran school bus back in Chicago. It was coupled...

    V100 Restoration Project

I've already got ma-deuce....She'll be riding on top of the turret, or perhaps a Mk-19  One of my plans is to scale-up the design of the 20mm bolt action rifle to 25mm. I've got everything I need. But that's a project on the far back burner. The V100 is a weekend project and whenever...

    V100 Restoration Project

Thanks, I may give him a call and get his price. Could save me a bunch of time. Do you have any edge roll/weather stripping for the doors/hatches? D.

    V100 Restoration Project

I haven't put the turret on the hull yet. That's way down the road, (after I complete the engine install and drive lines). I'm also planning on getting the vehicle inspected and licensed before I install the turret as to better my chances and not freak anyone out. When everything is done...

    V100 Restoration Project

Spent a little time doing some upholstery this weekend. This is a before and after shot of the pad/s that will be installed around the vision blocks (inside the vehicle). I stripped off the old foam, glued on some new and covered with a tough vinyl.

    V100 Restoration Project

THE TURRET Another collector purchased the original twin .30 turret off my hull before I even set eyes on it. So I had a turret-less vehicle. But I found something even more interesting and exciting...... Something not too big and not too small. It's juuuuust right. :) It's the prototype...

    V100 Restoration Project

 You noticed eh? Here are some pictures of that big 'ol hole... Starting with the chalk outline, then some reinforcement (note the old location of the cross beam). I welded in a much heavier one... and finally the finished rough cut. Working a plasma cutter is oh-so-nice.

Transfer Case Test Fit Sorry for the pause guys. I took some vacation..... OK, Here we go... I welded in a new/thicker mount for the transfer case and it's time for a test fit. Fits like a glove.... I also had the power steering cylinder rebuilt and new drivelines made up. More pictures...

    V100 Restoration Project

Not being able to find any armored gas tank covers, I decided to make some, (but in this case, they will be armored "fuel" tank covers). I found some domed steel pipe ends that were the right diameter. I had them chamfered to fit snuggly and then I weled on a handle and some hinges. I also...

    V100 Restoration Project

Again, thanks guys. Here's some more.... Most of the lifting rings on the hull were bent, so I cut them all off and welded on new ones (laser cut from 1" thick 4130 steel plate). I relocated the front rings to a position that made much more sense and added two additinoal tie-down rings on the...
