    3D PRINTING FILES

I don't think anyone's tried that with me yet - my sixth sense hasn't tingled!

M35A3 - Master Cylinder Remote Reservoir Fill Level

According to the PMCS, I need to make sure the brake fluid reservoir on my truck is filled to a "bottom ring". I'm just not sure what that "ring" is. Is it one of the casting loop seams on the top of the reservoir? Something I'm missing where the reservoir caps go on? I've always made sure...

Plan to buy a 3D printer

I recently bought an Elegoo Mars 4 DLP resin machine for printing miniatures and other stuff for scale modeling and doll houses. That thing makes phenomenal prints! I think it's worth the extra care needed with the resin and post-processing.

    Air Pack bypass

This is a pretty big deal right here! So where can we currently get stuff to rebuild air packs? Last I knew the kits for rebuilding the short air packs didn't work due to wrong-size parts. I'm not sure what the status is for long air packs.

    Air Pack bypass

I'd leave the air packs in the system. "We can go on without easier brakes." - No one ever I just hope I never have the experience of losing air on a truck that has dual-circuit brakes, like mine. They're stiff even with air assist!

    3D Printer Nozzle Sizes

I've mostly used eSun ABS. I've also made a few parts out of Polymaker ASA. I've had a good experience with both filaments :) I've used Hatchbox ABS too, but their ABS is blended with other plastic that isn't ABS, so it can't be bathed in acetone for a smooth surface finish. I've also found it...

    LDS-427-2 dismantling issue

Someone better figure out how to make new engine blocks! Maybe someday it will be possible to 3D print motors 🤞

    M35A3 new owner has questions

All four of us right? Oh there are a few more than that. I've seen M35s of all flavors and even a few M211s around here. Some ran when parked!

    M35A3 new owner has questions

I've read on here in the past that there's an air pressure regulator that can be adjusted or bypassed to make the steering work better. The air assist system always worked well enough on my truck that I haven't messed with it. As for the transmission, some members here have switched the fluid...

    Leaking Heater Core

Can't fix the core or doesn't want to fix the core? I'd try another shop for a second opinion. This kinda news just makes me want to try and fix radiators myself.

Why do I need DOT 5 brake fluid in my Deuce 1/2 ?

Take some fluid out of the truck and put it in a jar of water and mix it around. If stuff isn't mixing, it's DOT5 because silicone doesn't mix with water.

    Leaking Heater Core

This is interesting. My M35A3 has a leaky heater core too, and from what I know many M44A3 trucks came out of the factory with leaking heater cores. I'm having trouble finding the posts here though - I'm pretty sure I read about it here 🤷‍♂️ Those trucks were built from 1995 to 1998...

    Coolant Overflow

Agreed - even my 2002 1-ton GMC van has an overflow tube in the reservoir. It's connected to a hose that runs down the edge of the radiator where it can drain out any excess coolant to the road.

    Piston

Can that be done without a piston swap, or does the piston swap need to be done for maximum benefit?

    I got a stupid question

I don't believe that's always reliable as DOT-5 will turn yellowish as it gets older. I didn't realize that Memphis Equipment put DOT-3 in their trucks - that's good to know! I'm guessing they'd put DOT-5 in them if you wanted them to, but you'd probably have to pay for that. I did a quick...

    Spotted last week at Walmart

I don't think I could ever back my deuce into a Walmart parking spot where I live o_O That's a nice truck! It looks like its owner really cares about it.

    Turbo vs no turbo

A non-turbo diesel has one less thing to break than a turbodiesel ;)

    Turbo vs no turbo

When I was a kid my dad was a freight train conductor and engineer for a short line. They had a few RS-11s they ran and they smoked like that! They were also turbocharged and very fuel efficient - there's a reason Fairbanks-Morse still builds the 251 diesel engines!

    Turbo vs no turbo

Get in it and pretend you're running an ALCO road switcher down the... road. Honk honk!! :driver: Ya know, with the turbo cleaning the smoke up, that makes it easier to visually conceal movement, right?
